SNOW REMOVAL IN NORTHVILLE TWP
Snow is finally in the forecast! Winter brings cold weather, snow days and hazardous road conditions. Northville Township wants you to be informed about the following snow-related topics:
  • Northville Township does not plow streets; this is the responsibility of Wayne County or your own Homeowner's Association by contract.
  • The Township only salts sidewalk and pathways on township-owned property; Wayne County Roads or your HOA contractor salts streets.
  • Residents and business should try to remove snow and ice from the adjacent sidewalks within 24 hours of a snow/ice event.
  • Northville Township does not issue "Snow Emergencies" but be aware when an event is happening; move your car off the streets when possible to aid in clearing roads. If a "Snow Emergency" does occur, it would be issued by Wayne County.

HELP KEEP OUR COMMUNITY SAFE!
Our Northville Township Fire Department needs your help! Maintaining clear access to all fire hydrants is of the utmost importance. Increasing snowfalls create a variety of issues regarding our ability to locate and access fire hydrants in a quick and efficient manner. If you or your neighbor has a fire hydrant nearby, please take the time to clear the hydrant of any snow that may have already accumulated.

Please attempt to clear at least three feet in all directions so that we can quickly gain access to a water supply during a fire emergency. Each hydrant is equipped with two (2) outlets that allow fire hose to be connected. Please ensure that these outlets are also cleared to the street.
If you are a member of a homeowners association, apartment or condo complex or own or operate a business in the Township, please contact your private contractors or property maintenance companies to make sure to keep all hydrants clear and accessible. A blocked fire hydrant will delay the effectiveness of our fire suppression efforts.
