The USGA has adopted a new Local Rule for an Alternative to Stroke
and Distance for Lost Balls or Balls out of Bounds. This rule permits a player who may have hit a ball out of bounds or encounters a lost
ball to take relief at the nearest point in the fairway to where the
ball was lost or out of bounds with a two stroke penalty.
This rule is not intended for professional or elite amateur competitions.
It will not be adopted for NAIA National Championship events and
should not be used for any regular season or conference post-season events. If this local rule is used for a regular season or conference
post-season event, those results will not count towards selection and
all results will be null and void.
