Sunday Afternoon at Stephens Lake Park...
CROP Walk    Is Sunday
You won't see Don Harter's smiling face this Sunday, but the CROP Walk table will be in its usual spot, ready to accept your donations and registrations!  The weather this Sunday is predicted to be nearly perfect, with highs in the 70s - a great day to take a walk  in beautiful Stephens Lake Park.   Join us between 12:30-1:30 p.m. for hot dogs and chips; the program begins at 1:45 and the Walk steps off at 2:00! All activities are centered on the Park's Gordon Shelter (use the East Broadway entrance).
Enjoy Shakespeare's and Support CROP!
On Sunday, September 12, Shakespeare's Pizza will donate 15% of each sale to our CROP Hunger Walk!  Simply present this flyer  at the time of your order, and the donation will be amde!  You can also download the flyer to your phone and show it to the Shaekspeare's staff if you are ordering in-store.  The flyer can be used on pick-ups, eat-in or delivered orders - so support CROP and have a Shakespeare's pizza this Sunday!
In the Fellowship Hall...
Work of Our Hands Table
The Work of Our Hands Table showcases the many talented crafters, cooks and even gardeners that we are blessed to have at Broadway!  The Table features donated items, which are sold to purchase supplies for Church World Services school and hygiene kits.  Be sure to stop by the Table beginning September 9 in Fellowship Hall - you will find lovely, hand-made items that make perfect gifts for friend, family - and yourself!
Next Sunday, September 30....
Interim Search Committee Listening Session chalice
Next Sunday, September 30, at 10:10 a.m. i the Fellowship Hall, the Interim Search Committee will hold the first of four Listening Sessions.  All Broadway members and friends are encouraged to attend one of the four sessions, which will explore how we proceed in our search for an Interim Minister.  Additional sessions will be held:
 Saturday, October 6 at 9:00 a.m., in the Music Center;
Sunday, October 14, at 10:10 a.m. in the Music Center;      and,
October 2 OR 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Center (this session date will be confirmed and sent to members in a mailing.)

Celebrating 60 Years of Ministry...
Broadway's Founding Minister Returns Oct. 7
When the first 101 members of Broadway left Morris Parlor at First Christian Church in 1958, they were led by a young, energetic and dedicated minister , Rev. William (Bill) Ryan.  Bill and his wife, Narka, shepherded Broadway through its first ten years as a congregation.
Bill and Narka Ryan return to Broadway for our Homecoming Sunday on October 7, where Bill will preach at our 10:30 a.m. worship in the Christian Life Center.  Be sure to join us for this spcial Sunday as we honor the Ryans, our charter members and all of our members who have made Broadway into the church it is today!
Help Us Fill the Table at Our October 7 Potluck!
If you read any Broadway history, one thing becomes apparent very quickly - Disciples love to eat!  So on our Homecoming Sunday on October 7, it was only natural that the Anniversary Committee would plan a potluck lunch!  To make this a truly Broadway potluck, we are asking you to choose a recipe from our Food, Faith and Fellowship cookbook and prepare it for the October 7 potluck.  If you can help, please contact Dixie Fisher by  email or simply return the sign-up in your church mailbox!
And...a limited supply of Broadway's 50th Anniversary cookbook, Food, Faith and Fellowship, are available for only $5!
How It All Began
Have you ever wondered who started Broadway Christian Church, why the church was planted on the far west side of Columbia on a gravel road, and how it all happened?  Broadway member Goldena Howard wrote it all down - the first 20 years of Broadway history - in a meticulous and entertaining history of our church.  Just click on the image and read our story and meet the people who made it happen!
