Kindergarten Enrollment
Opened January 15
The enrollment window for students who will be kindergartners beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, opened for parents/guardians on Tuesday, January 15. Below, you will find four easy steps to enroll your child online. In addition, don't forget that Kindergarten Round-up is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, at the school your child will be attending.

Step 1: The process can begin from the comforts of your own home using your home computer (or any computer with Internet access). Click here to begin the online process. When arriving here, follow the directions to complete the on-line application, and gather the requested student information documents listed in Step 3.

Step 2: You will then be directed to schedule a time to visit your student's school to complete the enrollment process. If you're not sure which LPS elementary school your child is to attend, click here to check your address. If you have further questions, don't hesitate to call the LPS Transportation Office at 736-5360.

Step 3: Visit your child's school at your scheduled time and take the following documents to secure his/her enrollment:
  • Birth Parent/Legal Guardian - Photo ID

Read From the Start for High School Students
LPS high school students should mark your calendars for February 6, 5-7 p.m., inside the Liberty High School Library Media Center! Do you ever read with younger kids? It could be a younger brother or sister, a child you babysit, through a Child Development class, or volunteering with the local library. Children who grow up hearing stories and engaging with books have a better chance of falling in love with language and succeeding in school. Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important activity to help a child prepare for reading and learning.

Come to a Library XL program through the Missouri Humanities Council's reading program, Read From the Start (RFTS), to learn how to excite kids about reading. You will even get some free books to share with the kids that you read with. High school students can sign up  here  by January 30!
Read From the Start for Parents
Children who grow up hearing stories and engaging with books have a better chance of falling in love with language and succeeding in school. Research shows that reading aloud is the single most important activity a caregiver can do to help a child prepare for reading and learning. Missouri Humanities Council’s family reading program, Read From the Start (RFTS), empowers parents/caregivers to read to their young children regularly, helping them to form early habits that foster a lifelong love of reading. Through the guidance of a certified RFTS Discussion Leader, participants read/discuss children’s books and explore fun activities to enhance story time and nurture early literacy skills in their children. RFTS is offered free of charge, and participants keep the high-quality children’s books presented in the program. Childcare will be provided. Parents can  sign up here  by February 6th.

To learn more about all LibraryXL programs, visit  http://bit.ly/libraryxl . LibraryXL happens most Wednesday evenings in the Liberty High School Library and includes tutoring opportunities. Please email Andrea Sumy with any questions about the upcoming Read From the Start programs or LibraryXL.
