Trainer: Stanley Pollack, founder of Teen Empowerment and author of
Moving Beyond Icebreakers: An Interactive Approach to Group Facilitation, Learning, and Action
|
Wednesday, November 7
10:30 am - 2:00 pm
Central Branch YMCA
Worcester, MA
Topic: How to use interactive methods to create meeting structures that:
- Are highly engaging
- Enable participants to develop deep relationships, and
- Increase investment and productive efforts to meet the group's goals.
In this session, the author of
Moving Beyond Icebreakers will lead participants through a six-part interactive meeting format to illustrate how the elements function together to create a dynamic, lively, and productive working environment where a group hears more voices, solves problems, and creates innovative ideas. This experience will encourage participants to take on the challenge of the
Moving Beyond Icebreakers approach to break out of the static and largely unproductive traditional meeting formats. Participants will learn how to create a dynamic group context where the norms are excellent communication, strong and positive motivation, and creative problem solving.
By participating in this training, participants will learn how to use interactive methods to:
- Improve group satisfaction and productivity.
- Develop relationships and break down barriers of race, age, and authority.
- Increase understanding and investment in the group's mission.
- Surface dissension and build strong agreement for collective action.
- Surface and resolve dysfunctional group dynamics.

Accountable Care Organizations (ACO's) have become increasingly prevalent in state Medicaid programs as a way to improve health care quality, control high costs, and address the social determinants of health as we have seen in Massachusetts. The webinar goes over the history of health reform in Massachusetts, what an ACO is, and the role they play in addressing the social determinants of health.
