Get Ready for the BIG SHOW!
Fall in Love with the NC High Country

Saying good bye to summer can be tough, but when you have fall colors, weather and events like we have, it is much easier!

While the mountains of Northwestern NC are known for 4 Seasons, Fall is perhaps the most renowned and loved. Our area is traversed by the famed Blue Ridge Parkway with incredible vistas. With all of our elevation changes you will be able to view peak color for several weeks.

To give you a sense of what we have to offer, some of the most popular and best loved events and fall activities are summarized below. There are also some lovely listings to view.

In our area Fall means that Real Estate is still in full tilt. This is prime time for second home buyers to come and enjoy the sites and see homes. New listings are still hitting the market while sellers are reducing prices.

Our market continues to be healthy. We are experiencing a balanced market that is beneficial to buyers, sellers and investors. Our team is primed and ready to show you properties and take listings. We have had a great year so far and are proud of our 5 star satisfaction ratings on all attributes.

Our colleagues and clients ask us to post fall photos, and we will do that again this year on our Facebook page. In fact, we will be hosting a fall photo contest, so tune in and enter if you like: https://www.facebook.com/MountainHomesNC/

Call us if you are thinking about making a visit or want to know more about our market. We are happy to share information on places to stay and things to do.

Enjoy!

Fall Color Report
"Usually, Fall colors peak around October 11th-14th in the Boone area. Sooner by a few days up to a week at higher elevations, and later at lower ones. Nice colors can stick around for a week or more, although the peak usually comes and goes in just a few days."

The High Country's Best Pumpkin Patches and
Corn Mazes
The High Country's pumpkin patches and farms offer more than just pumpkins. You'll find tractor-pulled hayrides, concessions and nighttime attractions. Below are a few of our favorite places to explore on a crisp Fall day.

Head to Valle Crucis to visit this picturesque 7 acre farm with an old barn and farm-stand selling pumpkins and pumpkin pies. You can pick your own pumpkin, enjoy a hayride, and at nightfall the farm offers a chance to explore the family-friendly corn maze by flashlight.

I n Deep Gap you'll find a wide array of pumpkin varieties at the Brown family farm and New River Corn Maze. Open day and night, you can play a game of cornhole, get lost in the corn maze- by daylight or in the dark, and take a tram ride around the farm.

With a 5 acre corn maze and a pumpkin lot where you can pick your own pumpkin, the Ashe County Corn Maze is your family's Fall tradition waiting to happen. The corn maze is open every Friday and Saturday starting September 21st through October 28th, and the pumpkin lot will be open everyday.
Fall Festivals and Events
Saturday, October 6th
The Brushy Mountain Apple Festival is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. The streets of downtown North Wilkesboro are filled with over 425 arts and crafts, 100 food concessions, and 4 different music stages
Saturday & Sunday, October 13-14
Head to Sugar Mountain Resort for the 28th annual Oktoberfest celebration to take in the beautiful Fall foliage, the cool mountain temperatures and a weekend full of festival activities. Be sure to bring the kids, because the event is fun for the whole family!
October 20, 2018
The annual Valle Country Fair is a favorite among locals and visitors.Overflowing with food, crafts, music, and family fun, the Fair offers an all-day immersion to all things Fall. Carve a pumpkin, watch fresh cider being pressed from local apples, and tap your toes to some good music. The best part: The festival coincides with the peak color for the Valle Crucis area.
October 20th-21st
Since 1978, the residents of Banner Elk, the village nestled between the Carolina's largest ski resorts, have celebrated the coming of the snow season with a Woolly Worm Festival. In addition to the Woolly Worm races, the festival also features crafts, food vendors, live entertainment and much more!
