On Sunday, more than 100 GGUSD students joined Board of Education Vice President Lan Nguyen, Trustee Walter Muneton, Superintendent Gabriela Mafi, and staff in the Fiestas Patrias Parade in Santa Ana. It was a wonderful celebration of the rich culture of our district and community. We were pleased to have so many students participate, including Latinos Unidos Club students, ASB student leaders, the choir from Los Amigos High School, and a group of talented elementary and intermediate school baile folklórico dancers! With six schools in Santa Ana and 20% of our students residing in Santa Ana, we were thrilled to be part of this community-wide event!

GGUSD is committed to providing families with top-notch customer service! As part of our ongoing goal toward transparent and open communication, we created a new document called “
Communication Guidelines
for GGUSD Parents/Guardians" to help navigate communication channels in the district.
The document is being sent to all parents as a helpful tool to ensure they receive answers to their questions in a timely manner and know who to call when they have questions. "Communication Guidelines for Parents" is also posted on the district website in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Financial Literacy Learning
|
More than 250 seniors at Pacifica High School participated in an interactive event called "Bite of Reality," a financial education simulation about money management. Students used a mobile application to take on a simulated job, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt, medical insurance payments, and the freedom to make their own financial decisions. The event was run by staff from SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union who volunteered their time, as well as parent volunteers. The simulation gave students a better understanding of the challenges of adulthood without the real-life risks.
