This Sunday at Christ Church
Faith & Practice

After the service, everyone is invited to the Prevost Cloister for an All Saints celebration with locally sourced apple cider, hot chocolate,  and other delicious seasonal refreshments. There will be a bake-sale from one of our confirmation groups, handmade Christmas cards for sale from the youth, a Food Pantry First collection, and crafts for the children. This is a chance to mingle and meet fellow parishioners.

All Saints Evensong & Parish Dinner -  This Sunday
Please join us at 5:30PM on All Saints Sunday, November 4 for Evensong featuring our Youth and Adult Choirs. Music for this lovely, peaceful service will include choral anthems by Barnard, Brewer, and Clausen and organ music by Buxtehude and Widor. During the service, we will pray aloud for departed friends and loved ones whose names you have submitted to us.

After Evensong, all are invited to participate in a delicious, festive parish dinner in the McClain Room. We'd love to have you with us!
Food Pantry First - This Sunday
Sunday, November 4 will be our next date to collect for the New Trier Township Food Pantry.  The Pantry staff have asked for help with specific items that they need to stock this month:
  • Laundry Products (detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets, etc.)
  • Baby & Adult Diapers
Please remember that smaller containers are better (especially for things like laundry detergent!) as many of their clients are seniors who cannot lift heavy containers.

Bring your donations to the Prevost Cloister on Sunday, November 4 to help support our neighbors in the community who depend on the Pantry to get by every week!

Wednesday 11/7 & 11/21 - 12-1:00PM NEW GROUP
We meet in the Library of the Parish House (470 Maple) on the first and third Wednesday of every month to share a brown-bag lunch, work on kitting, needlepoint, quilting, sock-darning, jewelry making, or a project of your choice. No project is an option too! Simply bring your lunch and join the group. No need to RSVP. Just come when you are able. Questions? Contact Charlotte McGee at [email protected].
Cornerstone Sunday is November 11
We are grateful for your continued support of Christ Church. Please return your pledge  card to the church by mail, or by bringing it to worship on Cornerstone Sunday, November 11. That day, all will be invited to walk forward as part of the offertory procession, and we'll place our pledge cards in a central basket. You may also pledge online on our website. (Online pledgers can participate in the Cornerstone Sunday procession too! Keep an eye out for "I pledge online" cards, available in church November 11.)

Christ Church Celebrates 14 Years with Diocese
Pat and Lisa Kerpan, pictured below, were on hand with Christopher last Saturday at St. Michael's in Barrington to celebrate the companion relationship with Bishop Joseph and the Diocese of Renk in South Sudan.  Christ Church has been helping to pay the salary of the Rector of St. Michael's in Paloch during this time.  We heard some heartwarming stories of the faithfulness of both the churches in Renk and those in our own diocese who have been walking with Episcopalians there for many years.  Bishop Joseph was especially grateful to us at Christ Church for our many expressions of support over the years.  His faithful witness continues to be an inspiration.  Over 50 people attended from various parishes in our diocese and we were treated to a slide show of various areas of progress in Renk: crops, medical facilities, new churches, schools, and their theological college used for training parishioners.

We meet the first Wednesday of every month at 7:15AM at Frances DeBlasio's house, a block from New Trier's main campus.  If you are a New Trier freshman or attend another high school, let Megan Miller know and we'll make sure you get to where you need to be on time.

Become a Chalice Bearer
Chalice Bearers are Lay Ministers who serve the wine during the Eucharist each Sunday. Training is available. You may vest and process with the choir and clergy OR you may come up to the altar just for the Eucharist portion of the service. This way you may serve and continue to worship with your family. We would love to add you to the rotation. You would serve once every 6-8 weeks depending on your availability. Please contact a member of our clergy or parishioner Ted Buenger at [email protected] if you are interested.

We Need More Ushers
Please consider serving on a periodic basis as an Usher for either the 8:00AM or the 9:30AM service. Training is available. It is an important ministry as you are often the first face a newcomer sees when they come to Christ Church. Please contact Michael Peregrine if you would like to help out in this way. [email protected].
