Dear Friend,

Thank you very much for joining Metanoia each month in prayer. We believe that prayer is the work of ministry and we rejoice to know that many are praying with us and for our work.

Last year Metanoia was blessed to have our very first intern from Covenant College. Steven worked with me from August until December and I was sad when he left to study abroad for the winter semester.

I knew that Steven was going to be a Teaching Assistant this fall and therefore unable to work as an intern again. However, by the grace of God, I am please to announce that Mr. Steven Howell is Metanoia's newest part-time employee. Steven is our new Mentor Ministry Facilitator!

As such, Steven will be handling the administration for all of our mentor ministries. We are thankful for Steven's past service and we look forward to working with him again in this new capacity.
September Travel Schedule
  • 15: Taylors, SC: Mentor Training
  • 16: Simpsonville, SC: Palmetto Hills PCA: Ministry Presentation
  • 17: Flowery Branch, GA: Chestnut Mountain PCA: Ministry Presentation
  • 22-23: Greenville, SC: Mitchell Road PCA: Ministry Fair
September Update & Praise
  • On August 18, we trained 5 mentors for the new mentor ministry at Phillips State Prison in Duluth, GA. Praise God for raising up these men!
  • As mentioned above, we are thankful for Steven Howell joining our staff to facilitate the mentor ministries.
  • Metanoia has again asked Covenant College for an intern for the fall semester and we are waiting for students to look at the recruitment materials. We have received some interest in this position so we are moving forward with our second intern.
  • Student enrollment in Metanoia's Correspondence Courses is slowly increasing. We are thankful for these new students who want to study God's Word.
September Prayer Requests
  • Please pray that God will continue to raise up financial investors who want to invest in what God is doing in the prisons.
  • Our target date for sending the first mentors into Phillips State Prison in Georgia is the Second Monday in September. Please pray for this new work, and for John Theoharis, who will be overseeing it. Please pray that God will raise up many more laborers for this important work.
  • Please pray for Rev. Randy Jackson. In addition to the mentoring ministry at Hays State Prison, he is working towards launching some reintegration partnerships with the State of Georgia Parole Region in NW Georgia. AND, he is teaching one of the classes for seminary at Walker State Prison.
  • Please pray for Shelly as she continues to see more and more students wanting to study with Metanoia.
  • Please pray for our new part-time employee, Steven, as he takes over the administration of all mentor ministries.
  • Please pray for Rev. Tim McCracken and the work he is doing in the prisons in CA. Especially pray for clearance for some of the people he has recruited to serve with him.
  • Please pray for my family. I have two weekend trips scheduled for this month. With Raylene teaching full-time, my absence will be an additional strain.
  • Please pray for more laborers in prison ministry. Between Walker State Prison, Hays State Prison, Perry Correctional and Phillips State Prison combined, we have trained nearly 90 mentors in 2018. Please pray that God will raise up hundreds more mentors!
