Senate Bill Requires Climate Change Education for K-12 Classrooms
Senate Bill SB7, An Act Concerning Climate Change and Resiliency, requires that schools
incorporate climate change education into K-12 curriculum and that such resources be provided by DEEP. To make these resources available to schools, we have established the
EE Academy
. The Academy is a three day workshop that will provide climate change information, demonstrate curriculum applications using phenomena modeling, and lead hands on investigations supporting educational resources as they apply to NGSS standards.
EE Academy is free for teachers and provides a $100.00 stipend along with a complete library of nationally developed educational materials including Project WET, Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, and Project Food, Land, and People. Using these and other resources provided by NOAA, NASA, Smithsonian Institute and local partners, teachers will learn the science behind climate challenges and how to bring this to students for age appropriate understanding.
Space is limited.

Learn how to use the AirNow website with students to increase their knowledge of air health and to use the Flag program to communicate local conditions. The program supplies teachers with educational materials that focus on STEM as applied to air studies and provides each participating school with a set of flags
for use with students.
