Norman Bird Sanctuary: The Mabel Residency

In September 2018 the NBS held a ten day pilot for 5 artists with great success and will be dedicating the entire month of September 2019 to housing artists on their campus. They will stay in the Paradise Farmhouse with all meals supplied, have full access to our property and expert staff, private studios, and opportunities to interface with the community. This program is based on the McDowell Colony/Yaddo model of giving artists time and space to create their work. The artists do not pay to attend and are selected by a committee based on their work and their desire to create on our property. It will be the first of its kind in RI and we hope it will expand and evolve.

Artists interested in the Mabel Residency are invited to submit  a one-page letter of
interest along with a CV by January 31, 2019.

For more information on how to apply to the Residency, as well as to watch the short video that gives a great overview of what NBS is doing and its rich history of art at NBS, click here.
