Happy Fall! In this month's newsletter we focus on non-graded assessments that can help instructors gauge their students' learning and their own teaching effectiveness. We have also introduced a new section called Spotlight on Faculty . RUBRICS FOR ASSESSMENT Well-designed rubrics can save you a lot of headaches when it’s time for marking. And even better, they help clarify course expectations, guide your learners, and assess their progress. Key elements of a rubric typically include well defined criteria for the expected product or outcome, a rating scale with values and descriptors with examples for each criteria and level of performance.

Come join Laura Mackay on  Tuesday Oct 9th 10-11:30am in BR 126  to find out more about what you can do to ensure a successful evaluation and to create a positive learning environment for your students.

LIBERATING STRUCTURES- NEW CAPU PRACTICE GROUP FOR FACULTY What’s the buzz about? What’s in it for you? Come practice and experience the power of Liberating Structures in a safe and welcoming peer environment. We will meet once/month for an hour and try out 2-4 structures each time, as well as reflect on their value and usefulness in our classrooms. Drop in to participate and/or sign up with CTE  to facilitate one of the structures. Kick off session with the BC Liberating Structures User Group October 11th at 1pm.
