Barrow's high school graduation rate has reached an all-time high of 86.1% for 2018. The Barrow County Class of 2018 boasted the highest graduation rate of any class in BCSS history since graduation rates have been measured statewide (starting in 2000).
This week, Georgia Department of Education released the statewide high school graduation rates for the class of 2018. Georgia has continued to see an increase in the statewide 4-year cohort graduate rate of 81.6% in 2018, up from 80.6% in 2017. Read press release and watch video

BCSS Celebrates Bank OZK Partnership
Barrow County Schools celebrates a new district wide partnership with Bank OZK. Several Bank OZK representatives were present this week for the signing of the District's Partnership Agreement by Dr. Chris McMichael and Mrs. Brandy Johnson. Bank OZK representatives from the branches in Winder, Holly Hill, Statham, Auburn, and Braselton are now partnered with each of Barrow's schools and programs."
The Partners In Education Program's central tenets outline the importance of collaboration and support between the schools and the business community to promote student achievement, teacher appreciation, and dual community involvement. "Through partnerships, our children have the opportunity to experience the rewards and benefits of an excellent education as they prepare to be Barrow's leaders of tomorrow," remarked Dr. McMichael.
Motivated
Students from the Winder-Barrow High School chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently participated in a leadership conference held September 12-13, at the FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, Georgia. Over 1,200 students and advisers from 200 schools across Georgia participated in leadership workshops, planned the chapter's program of work and participated in competitions. At the conclusion of the day the awards ceremony was held to recognize all of the accomplishments of the competition winners. Winder-Barrow High School competed in the State T-Shirt Design competition, bringing home a 2nd place prize for FCCLA student, Susana Zaldana-Lopez.
