Message from the Minister

Dear Spiritual Community,

I'm coming up on the end of my third month in Eau Claire and I have to say that I'm loving it here! What's not to like? There's hardly any traffic, virtually no air pollution, an abundance of pizza choices, and it's only ninety minutes to Trader Joe's over in the Cities. Yes, I now know what "the Cities" means. Of course, we haven't been through a Wisconsin winter yet, but according to the long-range weather forecast, this season is an El Nino which will bring us a milder than normal winter. That's just fine with me. We're preparing for winter in the Studebaker household - we've got special winter boots, a snow shovel, warm coats, and two cars with snow tires. I'm still working on a snow blower, but everything in its good time.

In November, we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in remembrance of the early Pilgrims' arrival and survival in the New World. They were grateful for having made it through a year and so they feasted. That feast continues today, hundreds of years later.

Gratitude has a way of grounding us in the reality and experience of God's Spirit. It opens our hearts to the inner Source of our good. Whatever we're thankful for is enhanced through gratitude. Literally speaking, gratitude is an "attitude" of "grace." When we adopt an attitude of grace we see the good in everything and everyone. We're generous with our time, talent, and treasure. We're thoughtful and considerate of other's feelings and human differences. Gratitude begets gratitude and sets into motion the flow of love, peace, and joy through us.

In preparation for the celebration of Thanksgiving, we will be having a special Sunday speaker. Reverend Sandy McKinney will present the talk and meditation at the November 18th service. Just about everybody knows who she is, but if you're new to Unity Christ Center, she is the former minister, having served in that role from the early 2000's until 2016. I'm looking forward to hearing her talk and welcoming her back to her former pulpit.

Reverend Alden Studebaker is available to support you through spiritual counseling, prayer, hospital and other visitation, weddings, funerals/memorials, christenings, and special blessings. His private church e-mail address is [email protected].   In case of an urgent need, mobile no. 715-450-1868.

Share  A Course of Love

with its First Receiver,
Mari Perron

Unity Christ Center, Eau Claire WI
November 11 at 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Mari Perron, the First Receiver of A Course of Love, will be joining us at Unity Christ Center for an hour and a half dialogue. She will share her experience, discuss some major themes, and answer questions. Living so close to Eau Claire (St. Paul), she is very interested in engaging in dialogue with the other receivers of A Course of Love.

Students of A Course in Miracles are also welcome, as well as anyone interested.

A Course in Miracles and A Course of Love work hand-in-hand because the change of thinking taught within A Course in Miracles was a change of thinking about yourself. It attempted to dislodge the ego-mind that has provided you with an identity that you but think you are. A Course of Love then followed in order to reveal to you who you truly are.   (T2:4.3)

A Course in Miracles   is a course of mind training and right thinking.  A Course of Love is "a course for the heart" and guides one to wholeheartedness.

The purpose of this Course is to establish your identity. (C:27.4, 5)

Jesus himself stated what  A Course of Love  is and gave it its purpose. ACIM and ACOL are sequential. They are complimentary works, but they are different.

Please email [email protected] to be added to the attendee list.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Traditional Thanksgiving dinner has been scheduled for Thanksgiving Day
from 11 am - 1 pm.
Please sign up in foyer at the UCC if you wish to attend or email [email protected] to be added to the list.
