PRESIDENT'S GREETING
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to NEPTA's 2018-2019 season! I hope you had a restful summer and are ready for another wonderful year of teaching. Many of our devoted volunteers have worked diligently this past summer to prepare this season's program. I hope you will make time to attend some of our many events and recitals throughout the year.
Our first meeting is on Monday, September 24th. Wynn-Anne Rossi, a dynamic composer and unique music educator, will teach us how to include composition with our students and discuss her American Jazz and Latin music series. Please join us for this exciting session and feel free to invite your colleagues, friends, and students to this event. This first meeting is free to the general public.
On October 20th, we are launching our new open recital, the Halloween Piano Party for young pianists grades K to 5.
It will be a fun musical event with a Halloween party following each recital. Students are encouraged to dress up in Halloween costumes! Please remember to register your students by October 1st.
On Oct 22, Jiayan Sun will inspire us with his lecture on the works of C.P.E. Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven. On November 5th, at the Teachers' Exchange, we will officially welcome our new members. Details of all events are listed on our website
www.nepta.info and in the 2018-2019 NEPTA booklet.
I hope you all received the new 2018-2019 NEPTA booklet. It is our first year combining the program and members' directory together into one booklet. This was made possible with the help of NEPTA Treasurer, Jan Spillane. Some of you may remember that Jan created the booklets for NEPTA three years ago. She has done tremendous work for us again. The board, Diana Tetzlaff (VP), and I are very grateful for Jan's work and dedication.
This marks my second year as NEPTA president, and I am thankful to work with many wonderful, talented people in this organization. I send my sincere gratitude to each of you. Thank you all for being NEPTA members. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
Sincerely,
Ranko Konishi-Houston
President
