Solidarity Shabbat: Show up for Shabbat
Friday, November 2, 6 p.m.
Last Shabbat, we witnessed the deadliest act of anti-Semitism in U.S. history -- the attack at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. This Shabbat, we join with synagogues across North America in responding with our greatest show of solidarity, a continental Solidarity Shabbat with the Jewish community of Pittsburgh. At synagogues, community centers and homes across North America, we will be gathering together in prayer, compassion and unity -- as one people. Please join us for services at 6 PM. An oneg will follow services.
JCOGS Strategic Planning
RSVP for final session held on Wed., Nov. 7, 4-5:30 p.m.
Our community has changed a great deal over the last few years. Not long ago, we didn’t have a full-time rabbi, and now we have a full calendar of religious observances, a plethora of social gatherings, and a children’s education program that is bursting with energy. Certainly all of this growth is exciting. As we plan for our future, it is important to pause and consider what we value in our community and how we would like to define ourselves in the years to come. To that end, the board has created a strategic planning committee to steward a community-wide self-examination and conversation.
The first step in a multi-pronged process will be focus groups, open to the entire community. Please RSVP to Olivia ( olivia.easdale@jcogs.org ) if you can attend our final community session on: November 7, 4:00-5:30 p.m.
(Note that our board and our teens will have separate opportunities to participate.)

This is an exciting process that will ultimately result in a practical set of attainable goals for our lay leaders, our staff, and our entire community. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
L’shalom,
Rabbi David, Emily Rosenbaum (president), Marlene Maron, Steve Berson

Family Baking Event
Sunday, November 18, 3-5 p.m.
turkey_shaped_cookies.jpg
Hey tots through teens and JCOGS families - come bake on Sunday November 18th to help our neighbors and friends for Thanksgiving !

What started as a simple idea: "Why not make a few extra baked goods for the Food Shelf to help brighten someone's holiday?" has turned into one of our favorite holiday traditions! Each year in November we spread the word and ask our friends and neighbors to start baking. Nothing too difficult - breads, cookies, muffins - items that are easily made and well wrapped for transport or freezing. It's such a great and simple way to connect with our JCOGS community while helping hungry families in your community. It's all about spreading some home-baked love.

Hope you can join us at JCOGS on Sunday November 18th from 3-5 p.m. to bake for the Lamoille County Food Bank. To RSVP or for more information, please contact Wendy McCreight at wendy.mccreight@gmail.com .
