October  30th, 2 018
Due to our upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I am contemplating the simple words that we so easily can use to express our gratitude. Yes, you guessed right, 'thank you' is what I am thinking of. Two simple words that I like to use whenever possible. No matter the size of the helpful, kind or generous act at hand. No matter if someone is doing their job, like a clerk in a store or waiter in a restaurant, or if someone is going out of their way to help me. I like using these simple words, and I appreciate hearing them from my friends and family, as well as from strangers. It's an acknowledgment of how we are all in this boat together, and that we all need each other. Some might think they are fine on their own, but it's an illusion. We all live in relationship to others.

I am also quiet fond of the words 'You are welcome". To me they are different then 'no worries' or 'don't even mention it' or 'it was nothing'. Whenever I have felt deep gratitude towards someone helping me, and they answer with 'no worries' it gives me the feeling that it diminishes both the generous act as well as my expression of gratitude. There is something to those words, 'You are welcome' ,that amplifies how the giver was truly happy to help. And that they at the same time understand that it made a difference to the receiver. So I look to use these phrases whenever I have the opportunity. In my experience it brings both a feeling of joy to everyone involved, and a sense that what we do matters to others.

"'Thank You' is the best prayer anyone could say.
I say that one a lot.
Thank you expresses extreme gratitude,
 humility, understanding."

The Lotus Flower

The Lotus is one of the most beautiful flowers in the world. It has its roots in the mud, at the bottom of streams and ponds, but rises to bloom above the water without becoming wet or tainted by the mire below. It symbolically represents being fully grounded in earth, yet aspiring towards the divine. For thousands of years the Lotus has symbolized spiritual growth and self realization.
