Emergency Closures
On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close the Children's Center. The decision to close is always difficult. Factors may include weather conditions and forecast; the safety of buildings, grounds, and roadways; and the ability for families and staff to travel safely. 

We will follow Evanston School District 65's ruling on emergency closures due to weather. 

If D65 calls a late start, Children's Center programming will open at 9am. In the event of program delay or cancellation, we will communicate in the following ways:

Safety Corner
Please respect our neighbors by taking care not to park or stop in front of their driveways.
 
Obey all posted parking signs. Signs which read "No parking within 8 feet of driveway" refer to both sides of driveways.
 
Additional drop-off and pickup parking is available in the rear of the Children's
Center.
 
Please be aware the rear parking lot is a 10-minute parking zone.
 
Please do not park or stop in designated reserved parking places.

Early Childhood Updates
        
Vision & Hearing
February 13th vision and hearing for children who missed the first screening will be conducted. Your child (ages 3-5) is required to be screened as it is mandated by the State of Illinois.

Kindergarten Information Night
February 27th at 5pm in room 23. Come hear from two kindergarten teachers about routines, expectations, and TWE (District 65 program) and ask all your questions. Additionally, Mr. Manny will share about the YMCA after-school program here at the Children's Center. Childcare will be provided for part-day children.

Parent Advisory Group Toy Sale
Thank you to all who participated in the Toy Sale! The Parent Advisory Group raised $650.43 toward family events and teacher appreciation.

If you took home a Lightening McQueen that looks like the picture below, Melissa is holding onto the remote control that goes with the car.
 
Head Start Updates
Kindergarten Readiness Series 
We continue on February 13th with the Kindergarten Readiness Series: A Day in the Life of a Kindergarten. 
A D65 teacher will be here to talk and answer your questions about kindergarten expectations next year.

School Age Updates
Holiday Program 
February 6th,15th, and 18th District 65 has a half day dismissal/No School. School's Out will have its holiday program running on this day.

*PLEASE CONFIRM ON THE SURVEY IN YOUR CLASSROOM THAT YOUR CHILD WILL BE ATTENDING *

 If you need to make changes to your child's form, please visit the front desk for further assistance.

Swimming is full for the upcoming sessions. If you have any questions regarding swim lesson. Please email Mr. Manny for more info.
Registration Information
Tax Letters
2018 tax letters are available online, through the YMCA portal. Please see instructions below to sign in. Your letter will also be in your mailbox by January 31st. 

Online Payments
If you haven't already done so, follow these steps to set up your account online:
  1. Go to our Current Parents page on our website. 
  2. Click on the orange button near the top of the page that says                    
  3. Click the SIGN IN button
  4. Log in on the right side of the page.
  5. Type your Last Name, First Name, email address and your password. Your password is automatically set to your initials+date of birth (mmddyy). 
For ex ample for John Doe born 02/01/1968: JD020168.

Welcome Danny!  

Please welcome Danny Profit, Jr. back to the Children's Center. He has accepted the position of Admissions and Data Manager, he is replacing Becca Schroeder. You may remember Danny, he was one of our Registration Specialists and most recently, the Membership Manager at the main YMCA. We are so glad to have him back on our Admissions Team. Fall Registration 
Mark your calendars! 2019 fall registration for current participants begins February 25th. For two weeks, currently enrolled families receive 50% off of the registration fee for next year. Register by Friday, February 8th to receive the discount. 

School Age Registration  
This time of year brings many types of registration opportunities for school age participants. Just a reminder of all of the dates:
    • Summer Day Camp registration began January 2nd
    • Spring Break Camp registration begins February 18th
    • Fall Registration begins February 25th  
McGaw YMCA Updates










Session 2 starts February 19!

YOU can be an Iron Athlete!
140.6 miles makes it Iron. Running, Swimming and Biking makes YOU the athlete! McGaw YMCA is here to support YOU through it - all at your own pace!

Over the course of 7-weeks ( February 11-March 31) challenge yourself to finish a:
  • 2.4-mile swim or 90 laps in McGaw's Six Lane Pool
  • 26.2-mile run or 341 laps around the Sebring-Lewis Center Track
  • 112-mile bike ride or 1 McGaw Spin Class each week of the challenge (Based on an average of 16 miles in a 1-hour class)
Either by yourself or with a friend, sign up for our exciting NEW Iron Athlete Challenge. Sound overwhelming? Don't want to swim, bike, or run? Don't worry! We can help you with alternatives to compete!
