ORANGE COUNTY ARTISTS WIN NATIONAL CREATIVE CAPITAL GRANT
Creative Capital, an organization that funds artists "who shape the future" has announced its 2019 Awards, which include artists Victor Payan and Pocha Pena of Santa Ana. They will receive support for their project Dreamocracy in America (Nuevo DIA), a take-no-prisoners time-travelling transdisciplinary tour of America that picks up Alexis de Tocqueville's journey into the American character where he left off, and completes his epic project by examining immigrant and refugee detention centers, Native reservations, and communities west of the 1831 US border. Theirs was one of 50 projects by 58 individual artists that will receive up to $50,000 in project funding, supplemented by an additional $50,000 in career development services, for a total value of $100,000. They were selected from among over 5,200 applicants. More info here.
Each spring, dozens of OC arts organizations, schools, colleges, and cities participate in the Imagination Celebration. Learn how your organization can participate here.
