Sporting Clays Fall Fun Shoot / Turkey Shoot
October 6th

We had a great turn out of shooters for this annual event. Everyone always enjoys this shoot. The weather was nice but still a bit chilly, but fun was had by all.   The turkey shooting events went on all afternoon.

Our HIGH OVERALL WINNER for the NSCA 100 Targets  was Bob Ferguson with a score of 95.

Congratulations Bob!

After the sporting clay shoot, we hosted a Turkey Shoot which consisted on a number of different shooting games by the Duck Pond.

We handed turkey's and hams to the winners.

It was truly a BLAST !

Pilla Glasses
10 % Sale  - for the month of NOVEMBER
Shooting glasses enhance your shooting ability as well as providing protection from broken clays. When choosing shooting glasses, opt for yellow or orange lenses to enhance the clay pigeons in low light and to block out glare. Amber lenses are generally good for enhancing your perception, and purple/vermilion increases visibility.
The color of the pigeons comes alive with the proper shade of lenses.

The Sport of Sporting Clays
By Amy Taylor

Sporting clays, as named, is a sport. The definition of sport is, "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against others or for entertainment." (Dictionary.com)

I have heard people discount Sporting Clays as a physical activity that is part of a healthy lifestyle and have decided that it was time to get some actual and factual information out there. The purpose of this piece is to heighten knowledge about the sport of clay shooting as pertains to physical activity. I would like to take this opportunity to share that Sporting Clays is just as much of a sport as Golf, or Baseball. Hopefully this will open not only some eyes, but some minds to being willing to try the sport and see what amazing health benefits come along with being a part of the community of clay shooters.

My summer racing and why

When it comes to running Ultras (anything over 50km), the physical effort required is matched only by the mental effort and in some cases it's the mental effort that gets you to the finish. That is why most experienced long distance runners will tell you that in order to be successful you need a "why".
The "why" is that motivation you return to, that ultimate reason you need to focus on when your 43 Km's into a race, your body hurts, you're tired as hell, and you swear you will quit after this one. It's the "why" that pushes you past the suffering, past the desire to quit and just finish something monumentally hard.
