The #ACHPER2019 International Conference Program is available now!
The program offers something for everyone with a diverse offering of academic, practical sessions, symposiums and workshops. ACHPER aims to support the professional engagement of educators in primary, secondary and tertiary sectors, with sessions in Health and Physical Education (HPE), various approaches in sport pedagogy and by presenting sessions to strengthen the development of health and well-being in schools and communities!
It is important for people with haemophilia to be involved in sport and exercise at an early age to develop good practice early and help prevent joint damage in the long-term. On the Move with Haemophilia - a free, online, educational resource developed by not-for-profit In Vivo Academy in collaboration with Haemophilia Foundation Australia and Haemophilia Foundation of New Zealand - aims to educate and improve the confidence of parents, caregivers, coaches, and teachers in promoting sport and other physical activity safely in children with haemophilia.
Topics include:
How to choose a physical activity
Recognising and managing a bleeding episode
Returning to sport and exercise after a bleed.
The unnecessary fear around children with haemophilia participating in sport and other physical activities can be overcome by arming their parents, carers, teachers and coaches with the ability, knowledge and confidence to create safe and effectively managed environments for these children.

This article by Dr Rosie Welch and Dr Deana Leahy of Monash University discusses contemporary approaches to the teaching and learning of food and nutrition.
Rosie and Deana note that the inclusion of food signifies that health education is not merely about teaching children and young people the nutritional values and guidelines, but also about food literacy and food studies.
In this article they provide 5 guidelines to help support the planning and programming of a contemporary approach to food and nutrition. They conclude the article by providing a number of examples to conceptually and practically support the implementation of this focus area of the AC: HPE.
