Annual Conference 2019: Registration is Open!
Aviation technician education’s premier event is scheduled for March 17-20. The agenda is jam-packed with something for everyone. Instructors, administrators, career services personnel, designated mechanic examiners, company recruiters and workforce development professionals are encouraged to attend.
This 2019 conference will be better than ever, with new exhibitors, incorporation of a student career fair, breakout sessions with relevant information for a cross-section of aviation professionals, and evening events with Wichita flair. The FAA will also host DME recurrent training the day following adjournment for those looking to satisfy biennial requirements. Read on for more details. We look forward to seeing you in Wichita!

Student Career Fair
For the first time, the conference will incorporate a student career fair. The event promises on-site interviews and job offers. All prospective employees are invited, and schools are encouraged to communicate the opportunity to students. Register Now.

A new campaign seeks to unite companies, associations, labor unions and educational institutions, to spur interest in aerospace technical careers, and identify and implement solutions to the aerospace tech workforce shortage.

Survey Response Request
The council is surveying aviation maintenance technical program representatives. An invitation to participate was delivered to each school's primary contact earlier this week. ( Let us know if you did not receive it). The deadline to respond is Nov. 3. Read more.
Membership Renewal
Membership renewals are due Jan. 1. Dues invoices were sent to the primary and billing contacts for all members. If you did not receive a notice, let us know .

FAA Reauthorization Implementation: Stakeholders Move on Grant Program Action
The bill authorizes a five-year pilot program that will provide annual grants of up to $500,000 to business or unions, schools and governmental entities that partner on workforce development initiatives. Implementation activities are underway. Read more.
Senator Tim Kaine Visits Aviation Institute of Maintenance
As chairman of the workforce development committee and the Career and Technical Education Caucus, the Senator's comments provide insight on the congressional mindset towards technical training.   Listen in.

FAA Makes Minor Revision to Mechanic Written Test
The agency published revised sample exams and "what's new" documentation to notify the public of changes made to the written test bank.   Read more.
Scholarship
AWAM Scholarship Applications Due Nov. 1
Last year, the Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance awarded $140,000 in scholarships to 30 recipients. Opportunities are available for students, instructors and the current workforce. Read more.
HFI Scholarship Applications Due Nov. 30
Helicopter Foundation International (HFI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, annually offers up to 19 scholarships to help support students studying to become part of tomorrow’s helicopter industry. Read more.
