10th Annual Tribal Public Health Summit - Call for Proposals
Deadline: Monday, February 11, 2019
Public health practitioners, researchers, and policy experts are invited to submit proposals for workshop and roundtable sessions for the 2019 National Tribal Public Health Summit. The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) encourages presentations highlighting evidence-based, best, wise, or promising practices developed in and for Tribal communities. NIHB highly encourages dynamic, interactive sessions that will draw upon the skills, knowledge and experience of session participants.

2019 American Indian & Alaska Native National Behavioral Health Conference - Call for Proposals
Deadline: Friday, February 1, 2019
Behavioral health experts, researchers, and community-based service providers are invited to submit abstracts for the 2019 American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) National Behavioral Health Conference, taking place May 15-17, 2019 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, NM.
NIHB encourages presentations highlighting evidence-based, best, or promising practices developed in and for Tribal communities. The NIHB is particularly interested in presentations that provide tools in addition to information and research, so that gained knowledge can be made actionable. The NIHB is also looking for presentations that address Tribal behavioral health issues from multiple perspectives, paying close attention to the social determinants of health (i.e. socioeconomic status, exposure to trauma, access to education, the physical environment, etc.) which directly influence behavioral health outcomes. This year’s conference focuses on highlighting actions and tools that promote connections with culture, community, and knowing your purpose through the implementation of best practices. Please consider submitting an abstract that emphasizes this theme.

2019 Preparedness Summit: The Evolving Threat Environment
March 26-29, 2019 in St. Louis, MO
Registration for the 2019 Preparedness Summit is now open. The summit will take place March 26-29 at America’s Center Convention Complex (St. Louis Convention Center) in St. Louis, Mo. This year’s theme is “Preparedness Summit 2019: The Evolving Threat Environment.”
The 2019 Preparedness Summit will give attendees the opportunity to:
- Interact with leaders in the industry to expand your professional network and raise your profile in the public health preparedness space;
- Share your best practices and expertise with colleagues from the healthcare and emergency management and public health preparedness fields to contribute to the advancement of our nation’s health security;
- Build partnerships to strengthen your agency’s capacity in the face of emerging threats;
- Advance your skillset to find new ways to prepare for, respond to, and recover from threats like pandemic diseases, the opioid crisis, active shooter emergencies, and cybersecurity threats;
- Participate in interactive training and take away innovative solutions and practical strategies

Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response Listserv
Do you work on Tribal emergency preparedness and response? Is emergency management important for your Tribe? NIHB is currently creating a listserv, which will offer resources and activities for learning, networking, and information sharing related to Tribal public health emergency preparedness and response. Activities may include webinars, articles, and an in-person summit.

NIHB loves spotlighting Tribal champions! If your Tribe has conducted, or is currently working on, public health emergency preparedness and response work of any type, NIHB would love to hear from you.
