Birgit Högl, MD of Austria has been selected for the President-Elect position of the World Sleep Society. Dr. Högl's President-Elect term is effective immediately and will run until the end of September 2019. At the
World Sleep 2019
Vancouver congress, the position automatically transitions to the President position until the 2021 congress (date and location to be determined).
Dr. Högl is associate professor and director of the Sleep Disorders Clinic at the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria. She has published more than 250 manuscripts on various topics of sleep, mainly related to REM behavior disorder and restless legs syndrome, and authored more than 35 book chapters, and is co-editor of four books (three of them in English language). Dr. Högl is also involved in multiple international research collaborations, and has served as an officer of several national or international societies, among them as president the Austrian Society of Sleep Medicine and Sleep Research and of the European RLS Study Group.
