Acceleration East High School
Community Brief
 Monday, October 29, 2018

It is hard to believe, but we are already down to the last three school days of October. This week we return to a regular five-day school week trailing back-to-back short weeks. We will also be issuing 2018-2019 1st quarter report cards this week.

Please remember that next weekend OCPS will offer another one of its excellent Parent Academy events - details and online registration. This one is titled "Parents as Partners." These programs are extremely well done so please check out the link above and consider participating on November 3.

Thank you for looking over some of our recent progress and successes. Best wishes for a productive week ahead!

Sincerely,

Douglas K. Loftus
Principal

Group lab assignment: Calculating the atomic mass of the element "Candium"
Using the candies seen here, the students had to go through multiple steps such as: sorting the Candium by isotope (candy); counting each type of isotopes (candy) and measuring their mass; calculating the abundance of each isotope; and determining the average atomic mass of the element Candium.

Close Reading in Action
Mr. Roberts' World History class has been practicing "close reading" as they cover their subject material. This has been a point of focus across all OCPS campuses and all content areas this school year.
