At the Nursery our array of fountains are trickling away offering a cool soothing environment during the warm days of Summer. Perennials are offering their sweet elixir to the bees as they build up their honey stores for the cooler days to come. Stephanie Wooton, Unity's Staff Horticulturist, is at the nursery every week from Wed-

Food production at Unity Farm is in full swing. We are at the peak of harvest of our summer crops with abundant production of a variety of tomatoes, plus peppers, eggplant, fresh beans, cucumbers and more. But, even as we are in the middle of our summer harvest, we are looking ahead to fall

and are preparing for planting our fall crops. We continue to focus on building our soils and encouraging diversity of life at our farm through the use of cover
crops, composting, no-till
methods, intercropping, and by not using any chemicals. Our pest control consists of birds, frogs and toads, praying mantis, parasitic wasps, and more.
At
Unity Landscape Design/Build
, our landscape crews continue non-stop and at full capacity with a wide range of projects including full design/build projects, shoreline and erosion control projects, patios and walkways, driveway installs, lighting, irrigation and tending to our scheduled garden and estate maintenance. The extreme fluctuations in temperature and moisture have proved to be a challenge this season but we are working our way through the challenges as always. After the recent heavy rains, the Conowingo dam was opened and released a large amount of debris which found its way to many of our local shorelines. We have received many calls for shoreline cleanup and continue to perform these cleanups until all is returned to normal. The heavy debris is a nuisance for boaters navigating the waters. Additionally, the debris is unsightly on our shorelines and can smother our native plantings in our marshes and living shoreline projects.
Stop out to our design showroom and talk with Michael Jensen (Design/Sales), Lucas Lees (Environmental Designer), Kevin Kelmartin (Commercial sales), or Cliff Westman (Field Operations Manager) M-F 8:00-5:00 and Sat 8:00-4:00 to discuss your current or upcoming project.
