As you have probably heard, there was a gunman killed by police at Lanier Dermatology this morning. Upon learning of the shooting, the office was immediately in contact with the Gainesville Police Department to determine if we needed to be on lockdown. The Hall County 911 Service Center assured us that this situation did not warrant a full lock down. All doors to the CDC and church are monitored and we keep your child's safety a top priority. As always, please contact me if you have any questions about our procedures.

Have you ever wondered what penguins and polar bears have in common? Penguins live in the South Pole while polar bears live in the North Polar. They both live at the
opposite ends of the pole. Thus there is no chance that polar bears meet penguins. In order to have interactions between the two either polar bear or penguin must be a great traveler. Ice bears are known to migrate during the ice-free winter but they never get to the Southern Hemisphere. So other than living in the most extreme cold and having some extra fat or blubber they don't really have much in common. Check out this website to find out more.

First Presbyterian is endeavoring to read the Bible in a year together this year. Our pastor Lee Koontz wrote, "
Reading the Bible in a year makes for a great new year's resolution of course, but we are doing this in the hopes that it will help us to all grow in our faith together in a new way. My plan is to plan our worship services and sermons around some of the texts that we're reading together, but we'll be reflecting on a very small slice of each week's readings in worship. I encourage you to get together with other friends or family members to discuss the readings as we go. I'm excited about the ways in which our eyes will be opened to God's Word as we join this journey together!" The reading schedule is available here or through the Bible in One Year app available in Google Play or Apple store.
