As you hopefully know, our District has been engaged in a facilities planning process for the past two years -- and a plan is on the table, with the likelihood of an April referendum. This process stemmed from a lack of balance in enrollment across the schools and the recognition that many of our old buildings require significant investment each year, just to maintain them, so the district decided to look at the educational opportunities that come from modernizing our facilities. 

For those of you with younger children coming up, this will directly affect you. For those of you whose kids may be aging out of the schools, it will impact your home value and taxes. School boundaries will be redrawn to balance enrollment (regardless of referendum passing), which is a common occurrence in most towns, but hasn't happened in Winnetka since 1949.

You have an opportunity to hear from Superintendent Kocanda this Wednesday, 9:00am, during our monthly PTO Exec meeting (to be held at the Beitler home). She, along with other key administrators and school board member Nat Roberts (a former HW parent), will attend our meeting to present an update on the Educational Master Facility Plan, which was approved in October.
