Day 74: Do ZUM-thing Wild in Kansas City

Kansas City and Indigo Wild
Kansas City, Missouri is the largest city in Missouri by both population and area. Not far from its historic core stands the home of Indigo Wild, a vibrant local Kansas City company that sells an array of Zum Bar hand soaps, lotions and rubs, oils and aromatherapy sprays.
In Kansas City, the summers are hot, muggy, and wet. The winters are very cold, dry, and windy, and it is partly cloudy year round. Over the course of the year, the temperature typically varies from 24°F to 90°F and is rarely below 7°F or above 99°F.
But inside Indigo Wild, it's cool in the summers and warm in the winters!
Fun Facts:
"Zum" is a made up word and rhymes with mum, come, from, and bum.
Zum Bars contain such a high percentage of essential oils that they are considered aromatherapeutic.
Indigo Wild rescues buildings as well as dogs. The Zum factory is made up of two old Kansas City buildings they made their own.

What's Inside Zum Products?
"We make our stuff rock, balancing the rhythm that forms the backbone: Goat's milk, soy wax, jojoba oil, shea butter, argan oil, dragon's blood. We add stuff like meadowfoam seed oil, rosehip oil and botanical extracts for bass vibes you can feel. Then we bring out the 100% pure essential oils to lay down a melody that hits
the high notes."

The Company: Indigo Wild
In 1996 Emily Voth was working for Sprint when she dove into producing natural products upon noticing an alarming amount of synthetic chemicals in traditional personal care lines. She and her husband kept toiling at their day jobs as Indigo Wild got underway. They crafted products during their free time and sold them at farmer's markets. Voth studied ingredients over her lunch hour and dreamed of the day she could "bring my dog to work and listen to music." By August 2018 Indigo Wild was employing over 150 dedicated people and the company announced a new endeavor.
Indigo Wild founder Emily Voth knew the time was right to sell her company when she realized, "I had raised a baby who is now ready for college!" She chose Hammond, Kennedy, Whitney & Co. Inc. and despite selling a majority stake in Indigo Wild, Voth retains final approval on products.
As well as continuing to produce high quality organic body products, they care a great deal about the health of their community and the wellbeing of their four footed friends.
They love dogs and hate breast cancer.
They like "Zum Mutts" so much, their place runneth over with the dogs they love. That's why they've teamed up with Kansas City Sheltie Rescue. For each Y.U.M. Bar doggie soap sold, they donate $1.00 to Kansas City Sheltie Rescue.

At Indigo Wild, "we also have some badass cancer fighters in our ranks, and we're working with some great local charities to support cancer warriors. Our Betsy line is our ode to orbs - hers, yours, and globes around the world. Why? Because we love these Zum Chicks and their magnificent mammaries. Because breast cancer affects everyone. Because boobies deserve better".
The Betsy line is named in honor of our own Zum Chick, Betsy Medina, who "Van Dammed" cancer more than 14 years ago. Today she is cancer free, but thousands of people still need our support. $1.00 for every Betsy Bar sold is donated to Turning Point: The Center for Hope and Healing, a program that provides empowerment and transformation of the mind, body, and spirit of individuals living with serious or chronic illnesses. Also, 25% of sales of every Betsy Body go to Back in the Swing, a non-profit organization that supports healthy and proactive living for breast cancer survivors.
