Revisions to Voters' List
 
Commencing on September 4th, 2018 the Voters' List for the 2018 Municipal Election became available for inspection at the Township of Brock Municipal Administration Building, 1 Cameron Street East, Cannington, Ontario. The REVISION PERIOD runs from Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 22nd, 2018.
 
Electors are encouraged to examine the list as soon as possible after September 4th, 2018 and if your name does not appear on the list and you feel you qualify as an elector or if any wrong information appears, applications for additions, deletions, or corrections to the list may be obtained from the Township of Brock at the following dates, locations, and times:
  • Clerk's Office, Municipal Office, 1 Cameron Street East (2nd Floor), Cannington, until October 19th, 2018, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and October 22nd, 2018 (Voting Day) from 8:30 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for all Wards (1 - 5);
  • Beaverton Thorah Community Centre, 176 Main Street, Beaverton, from October 15th, 2018 until October 19th, 2018, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and October 22nd, 2018 (Voting Day) from 9:00 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for Wards 1, 2, & 4 ONLY;
  • Sunderland Fire Hall, 217 River Street, Sunderland, from October 15th, 2018 until October 19th, 2018, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and October 22nd, 2018 (Voting Day) from 9:00 a.m. until the close of voting at 8:00 p.m. for Wards 4 & 5 ONLY.
Vote By Mail Instructions
 
Between September 17th and September 21st, 2018 a VOTE BY MAIL KIT has been forwarded to each person who has qualified to be on the Voters' List. The VOTE BY MAIL KIT will contain a voting instruction sheet, a composite ballot, ballot secrecy envelope, a voter declaration form, an outer return envelope (yellow) with prepaid postage.
 
Persons who have not received a VOTE BY MAIL KIT by September 26th, 2018 may obtain a kit at the above-noted locations, dates, and times.
Voting will take place in the following manner:
 
BY MAIL, the voter:
  • upon receipt of the VOTE BY MAIL KIT, shall complete the ballot, place it in the ballot secrecy envelope and seal the envelope; AND
  • shall complete and SIGN the voter declaration form and place it, together with the sealed ballot secrecy envelope in the yellow prepaid return envelope.
The last date to mail the yellow prepaid return envelope to guarantee delivery is October 11th, 2018. It is recommended that electors wait until there has been confirmation that there will be no postal disruption prior to placing their ballot in the mail.
 
Voters who choose not to use the mail may deposit their ballot at the above-noted dates, locations, and times. Should a postal disruption occur, notice will be given as to revised dates for the return of ballots.
 
No PROXY or ADVANCE VOTING PROVISIONS other than BALLOT RETURN STATIONS are applicable.

Pilates
$5.00 drop in fee.
Pilates is a form of full body exercise that develops Strength, Control and Concentration. Classes are suitable for all ages and abilities. All you need is a mat and a good attitude.

Are you ready to kick your fitness into high gear? Warrior Fitness Kickboxing and MMA (mixed martial arts) Conditioning will help sculpt your body into a fantastic new you! Each authentic kickboxing workout will leave you feeling great as you kick and punch away your stress and extra pounds. Start burning 800+ calories a workout! No experience necessary. We will bring focus to finding the connection between our breath, mind and body as we flow through a series of yoga postures that will leave you feeling calm, focused and energized. Classes are for all levels - no yoga experience necessary! Bring a yoga mat and water!
Beaverton Harbour: Tuesdays 6:00-7:00 pm (Class will be moved to the Beaverton Town Hall in the event of inclement weather)

Restorative Yoga
Restorative yoga typically involves 3-4 poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Poses are held up to 15 minutes each including light twists, forward holds and gentle backbends.

Gentle Fit is ideal for older adults and those who are starting an exercise program. The class provides a challenging, effective workout at a gentler pace and includes cardio conditioning, strength/endurance/power training as well as balance, flexibility, and stretching while enjoying good music and the company of friendly participants.

Strech N Stride
$5.00 Drop in fee
Start walking towards a better health, with our new walking program. Stretch N Stride will provide you with an instructor led warm up, moderate paced walk, and a cool down stretch in a group setting. This program is all about social interaction, accountability and increasing overall physical fitness.

Reminder to Taxpayers 

The second installment of the 2018
Final tax bills are due today
 ( September 21, 2018).
 
Payment can be made at most Financial Institutions or at the Municipal Office, Cannington. (Telephone/Online Banking is available through most major banking institutions). Please mail your payment early or pay in advance if paying at the bank. Payments delayed in the mail or at the bank and received after the due date are subject to late payment charges. A drop box is available at the Municipal Building for after hours. (No cash in drop box please.)
You can pay your taxes with Visa or Mastercard using a third-party credit card company. Payments made through Plastiq will incur a fee. View their terms and conditions at www.plastiq.com. This option is available online ONLY. Please allow sufficient time for your payment to be received in the Municipal Office by the due date.
 
A penalty of 1.25 % will be applied on the first day of the month following the due date and the first day of each calendar month thereafter in which default continues.

Additional Payment Options
If your account is current, we offer a monthly Pre-authorized payment plan option which is a very helpful budgeting tool. We also offer Pre-authorized payments for the full amount of your four installments per year. Contact the Treasury Department to enroll in either of these plans for the 2019 taxation year.
 
If your account has fallen behind, we also offer a Pre-authorized arrears plan. Contact the Tax Collector today to arrange a monthly payment amount that will work for you, and pay down your tax arrears. All penalties must be paid prior to any portion of a payment being applied to the tax arrears.
 
Low Income Seniors Property Tax Rebate
A $250.00 Property Tax Rebate is being offered to home owners whose principal residence is the property being applied for, who are 65 years of age or older, and who are currently in receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplement,
(A copy of your GIS renewal award letter MUST accompany the application) .   Applications and details of the program can be obtained at the Municipal Office or on-line at   www.townshipofbrock.ca.
Deadline for application is September 30th of each year .
