I hope you are staying safe and doing well. We held our second virtual meeting this year and all went well. I hope everyone is enjoying the video conferencing option. The board felt it would be a great option, especially for those that are a one-person office and for those that are unable to travel to the different locations. Summer has finally come to an end, and many of us did not get to go on vacation due to restrictions and fear of COVID-19, but I hope you took some time out for yourself even just to relax and de-stress. |
Our July meeting was another Zoom meeting with speaker Veronica Juarez. She shared with us valuable information on communication. Her topic “Can’t We Just Talk – Six Keys to Becoming a More Effective Communicator” introduced us to tips for becoming a more effective communicator professionally and personally. Tips were given on understanding the things that influence your communication style such as the way you see the world—age, gender, social role, culture, and non-verbal communication. Listening skills were emphasized as was being an assertive communicator—speak kindly, concretely (not abstractly), create the right climate for 2-way communication, use “I” avoid “You”, and avoid “Always” and “Never”.

At the meeting, the membership approved the following business items:
-
June 24th meeting minutes.
- Treasurer reports for June 2020.
- 3rd Quarterly Treasurer Report.
- Registration costs for virtual meetings with a speaker $10 member/$12.50 non-member and free to the membership if no speaker (survey results).

The Nominating Committee reported the following:
Applications to serve on the NTMCA Board and have been reviewed. Of the current officers, all have applied to continue to serve with exceptions of Historian Tammy Dixon. This will leave at least two open positions on the board (Secretary and Historian). The nominating committee received three new application and two members have meet the eligibility requirements – Leticia Vacek (Trophy Club) and Lindsay Wells (Euless). In accordance with the NTMCA bylaws, the slate of officers will be presented to the membership at the August meeting.

AUGUST MEETING
Our August meeting will be held in the Diamond Oaks Country Club, Haltom City, 5321 Diamond Oaks Drive North, Haltom City, 76117. Our scheduled speaker is Jeremy Baugh (North Richland Hills), who will be speaking on the topic of “Cybersecurity 101”. We will also have a special guest, TMCA President Shelley George who will also be in attendance.

FY 2020-2021 BUDGET
With only a few meetings to go, the Board is finishing up the year. We appreciate our committee volunteers, host cities, supporters, and members. We are working with the Budget Committee to finalize next year's budget, which will be voted on in September.
