A Message from Mrs. Neilsen

Hello Vine Hill Families,

Thank you for an amazing first few weeks! The Vine Hill Bears got right to work reviewing our school-wide BEARS expectations: Be Respectful, Eager to Learn, Always Prepared, Responsible, and Solve Problems. Thank you to all the parents who attended Back to School Night, and to our teachers for their informative and thoughtful presentations. I am so lucky to be a part of this community!

Make a Difference with Student Leadership!

This year, all 4th and 5th grade students at Vine Hill have a chance to participate in our new Student Leadership program. This program is being designed as a chance for the student leaders of Vine Hill to have a say in their school community. Student leaders are expected to embody the Vine Hill Bear Expectations of Being Respectful, Eager to Learn, Being Prepared, Being Responsible, and especially Solving Problems!

Each 4th and 5th grade classroom will have two student representatives and elections will occur twice a year (Fall and Spring). Look for information to come home with your child soon. The first round of representatives will be announced at Friday Flag, September 7th.

Have You Donated Yet?

The Bear Society Donation Drive is in full swing and ends October 1 ^st . ^. We are working hard to raise the $425 that each child needs to preserve our favorite programs: art, music, computer lab, life lab as well as classroom aides, yard duties, and supplies and equipment for our school . Our fundraising goal for the direct donation drive is $85,000.

Did you know that many companies will match 100% of your donation? Be sure to maximize the benefits of your donation by providing your employer with our Tax ID #. This can be found on the Bear Society donation flyer coming home in your child’s Friday Folder.

All donations, large and small make a lasting difference!

Hello Vine Hill Parents,

I wanted to introduce myself, my name is Courtney Polito parent to 1st grader, Brody. I will be collecting the Lost and Found this year. Any of the items not claimed by the last Saturday of each month will be donated to a local organization called Free 2 be a Kid ( https://www.free2beakid.com/about_us ). I will do my best to look for your childs name and leave those items behind.

Do you need help with Homework or just need help studying? Well, we are here to help! It is also FREE!

Who: 3rd, 4th and 5th Graders

When: Every Thursday, 3:00 - 4:00

Starts: September 6th

Where: Room P7

Please make sure to send your child with a snack and pick them up at Room P7 at 4:00pm. The teacher in charge will sign out your child.

Room parent volunteers are instrumental in making Vine Hill a fantastic school and ensuring our kids have an amazing year! If you’re interested in being a room parent for the 2018/2019 academic year, please get in touch with your child’s teacher ASAP or e-mail Sandy Flores at scottsndy55@yahoo.com with questions about the role and responsibilities.

Then mark your calendar for the 2018/2019 Room Parent Kickoff Meeting Thursday, September 13 from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. in the Vine Hill Library. This is a one-time meeting where you’ll hear from PTA Room Parent Co-Chairs Sandy Flores and Jamie Kilpatrick about all that’s new and exciting this year and the resources available to you. We’ll answer your questions and provide you with your morning coffee!

We hope you’ll consider being a room parent this year and we look forward to seeing you at the kickoff!

Parents are ON Patrol

The PTA is compiling a list of volunteers to help with our Parents on Patrol Morning Drop-off Committee for the rest of this year and we need you! Volunteering is simple. You arrive at 7:50, grab a yellow vest and head down to the pickup line to help students out of cars and ensure drivers are dropping off

after the signs and pulling all the way forward in line. The shift ends at 8:20 after the second bell rings.

That’s it, it’s FUN! Our goal is to have someone out there every

day.
