We are now taking nominations from members for the following deacon positions:

A disciple, in Scripture, is one who hears the call of Jesus Christ and lives in active response to him by repenting, believing the gospel and following Jesus. The Church is the community of disciples Jesus promised he would build. It's where Christ is publicly confessed and where we find spiritual support and nourishment as the home base for serving others in Jesus' name. The purpose of Ash Wednesday is for disciples to begin the season of Lent by stopping our normal routine and meditating on our mortality, sinfulness and need of Savior.

LENT DEVOTIONAL - A JOURNEY THROUGH LENT
What is Lent? The word "Lent" comes from the Old English word "lengten" which simply means "spring" - when the days lengthen and new life springs forth. It is a time in which we anticipate the victory of the light and life of Christ over the darkness of sin and death. It is, to borrow a phrase from C.S. Lewis, a season of a kind of "happiness and wonder that makes you serious."
The devotionals will be available in the church foyer Sunday, March 3.
May God unite us in our following of Jesus Christ through the gift of prayer.

GENEROSITY LIVES HERE!
1 John 4:19: "We love because he first loved us."

Thank you
to the donors who collectively contributed to the Music Ministry Fund to pay for the new sound board in the sanctuary. We are thankful to see the Lord at work in your ministry to the church. Your generous support covered the $4000 cost of the equipment and the over and above gifts of $2200 will be saved for any future capital improvement needs that might arise in the future.
In appreciation from your Finance Team.

OTHER NEWS:
Longview Community Ministries
recently experienced the loss of some experienced volunteers through aging or illness and is in need of interviewers and back up for phones, filing, etc. Ideally, interviewers would commit to one morning a week and backups would be on call for when needed. This is truly an opportunity to serve this Ministry to help those less fortunate. Empathy and compassion are the primary requirements to be able to help. Details can be obtained by contacting Assistant Director, Donna Spencer at 903-753-3561, ext. 205 or emailing
