UC San Diego will honor World AIDS Day throughout the week to focus attention on and raise awareness about the impact that HIV/AIDS has had and continues to have in the San Diego community, the nation, and the world.

Microaggressions: Combating
 and Processing Everyday Racism

Come to the LGBT Resource Center today to learn about microaggressions and what you can do about them. The program will cover bystander intervention techniques and methods of mindful journaling. Free journals and pens will be provided to those attending!



Caravana LGBTQ Community  Conversation

Group leaders have detailed some of the discrimination that LGBTQ Caravan members have faced throughout their journey. Join us for a conversation to discuss the challenges the migrants have been facing and what solidarity for LGBTQ refugees and migrants can look like.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

The LGBT Resource Center would like to invite every single LGBT Resource Center volunteer to our Volunteer Appreciation Event! It's a good way to relax a bit before starting to study for finals. We're going to have sandwich supplies and crafts, including t-shirts, and we're trying to secure a couple of video games that we can play as a group. We hope to see you there so we can thank you in-person for all of the work you do for our Center! We really couldn't run without our amazing volunteer team.

Coming Out Group

The Coming Out group is a place to meet and gain support while discussing your sexual and/or gender Identities in a confidential setting.  This group is for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, straight, or questioning folks who are coming out, considering coming out or may already be out.  Topics are determined by group participants and can include stress, fear, anxiety, loneliness, family/cultural issues, excitement and celebration with regard to coming out. The group is open to new members the first 3 meetings of each quarter and then closes to maintain safe space.

Bria Hamlet is a Certified Health Promotion Specialist from the Health Promotion Services (HPS) department. Her focus areas include Alcohol and Other Drugs and Sexual Health. During her office hour, she will provide information about services available at Student Health Services (SHS), as well as upcoming wellness events and workshops. Bria also counsels students before they begin pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, for HIV infection prevention. She can answer questions about that process as well.

Gettin' Fresh with CalFresh

CalFresh SuperClinic with SD county worker on hand.

Students will be able to start, finish, and know decision of their application all at the event. Students can also get help with their CalFresh application if they have already started one.
Goal is to provide additional assistance and support to all students as we all deserve access to nutritional food.

Fall Immigration Forum

At the event, our immigration attorney, Saya Austin, will discuss the importance of immigrant families developing a Family Preparedness Plan given our political climate and the increase of immigration enforcement in our communities. She will go over what should be included in your Family Preparedness Plan, such as a Caregiver's Authorization Affidavit for minor children in case their parents face an immigration emergency, for example a raid, detention, or deportation. 

Dinner will also be provided.

Marine Physical Laboratory Summer Internship Program
