USF hosts Governor DeSantis for a panel discussion about COVID- 19's impact on education
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis met with USF President Steve Currall and members of his leadership team for a panel discussion on the impact COVID-19 has had on the reopening of Florida schools.

"Having our universities up and operating is very important," Governor DeSantis said. "We want to continue those efforts going forward and of course that involves the instruction, which is key, and also involves athletics."

During the panel discussion, President Currall discussed several steps USF is taking to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
USF is America's fastest-rising university, according to U.S. News and World Report
The University of South Florida is once again the fastest-rising university in America, according to U.S. News and World Report's 2021 Best Colleges ranking. Over the past 10 years, USF has risen 78 spots among all universities, from No. 181 to No. 103, and 54 spots among the top 50 public universities in the nation, according to U.S. News.
Congressman Charlie Crist visits USF St. Petersburg to discuss research in the College of Marine Science
Congressman Charlie Crist visited USF St. Petersburg and spent time with our new Dean of the College of Marine Science, Tom Frazer, discussing current research the College of Marine Science is engaged in and future opportunities for the college. The Congressman also had an opportunity to connect Dr. Alastair Graham, a faculty member in the College of Marine Science who the Congressman helped return to the United States from abroad during pandemic-related travel restrictions. 
The City of Tampa and Mayor Jane Castor Team Up with USF, UT, and HCC to spread message of safety
President Currall and USF Student Body President, Claire Mitchell teamed up with the City of Tampa and Mayor Jane Castor as well the Presidents and SGA Presidents from UT and HCC to spread the message of safety.
Congressman Gus Bilirakis and Congresswoman Kathy Castor attend virtual meetings with USF Researchers to learn more about the Pandemic Response Research Network
Earlier this month, Congressman Bilirakis and Congresswoman Castor attended virtual meetings to learn more about USF's Pandemic Response Research Network (PRRN) and speak with Senior Vice President of Research, Paul Sanberg and USF researchers about their grants and ongoing work in response to the global pandemic.
