TravelTALK - Week of September 17
CVB & Partner Meetings
Stay tuned for more information as we revise our partner meeting format and schedule. Instead of quarterly Tourism Roundtables, we are looking to host meetings at our offices to share and discuss partner needs and industry news. Look for more information to be announced as we get closer to October.
TourismOhio Co-Op Program
Dates have been released for TourismOhio's 2019 Co-Op program. This year's webinar will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 10 a.m. Advertising selection period will run from October 5th through November 30th. Up to $25,000 in matching funds will be available to partners.
Travel TUSC Ticket Results
We bought and gave away 1,145 tickets to the opening night of Trumpet in the Land for Tuscarawas County residents this year. It was a sold out show and, for many, it was the first time they had ever seen Trumpet in the Land.

From June 15 through August 15, we bought and gave away tickets for free admission into several of our local attractions! 1,226 local residents took advantage of this opportunity and enjoyed what Tuscarawas County had to offer:

  • The Warther Museum: 237 adults and 131 children
  • Schoenbrunn Village: 179 adults and 124 children
  • Dennison Depot: 107 adults and 81 children
  • Broad Run Corner: 125 adults
  • JE Reeves Museum: 85 adults and 34 children
  • Fort Laurens: 38 adults and 21 children
  • Historic Zoar Village: 23 adults and 13 children
  • Uhrichsville Clay Museum: 19 adults and 9 children

We offered tickets through our offices in downtown New Philadelphia, at the Tuscarawas County Public Library main and branch locations, at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market, and a number of other participating venues. Many residents were initially hesitant with our offer ( free tickets!?), but they would come up to us in the following weeks with smiles on their faces and stories to tell of their experience.

Our Executive Director, Dee Grossman, has this to say:

“Providing tickets to local residents, while not our usual mode of marketing, provided people with an opportunity to see and experience the history that makes Tuscarawas County unique in the nation. It is our hope, that those residents will share their experiences with friends and family and, when stopped on the street by a visitor, will say ‘why yes, I’ve been there and it was fantastic.’”
Heartland Travel Showcase
It is time to register for the Heartland Travel Showcase. This show offers the opportunity to meet with tour operators from all over the Midwest. The CVB will once again offer a booth reimbursement incentive for partners going to the Heartland Travel Showcase.

Why Does History Matter? Please take this survey for the Depot!
From the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum:

"We at the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum care deeply about history. We also work hard to make the history we share with you, our community, and visitors, meaningful.

But we need your help. To learn more about how visitors like you engage with history, we are participating in a national survey of history museum-goers. This survey will provide us with data to help us more effectively share history with the communities we serve."
