Earlier this year, Niagara and Hamilton's Economic Development Departments and partners collaborated with Whole Foods to connect food and beverage processors in the area with the tools and knowledge needed to get into grocery stores.
"We partnered on this event to create an opportunity for our food and beverage processors to get in front of some of the big names in retail," shares Kelly Provost, Niagara Region Economic Development Officer. "The partners involved in this event were truly critical to making this event such a success."

Last month, the 21st TCI Network Global Conference - an event that moves continents every year - came to Toronto, bringing cluster experts from around the world to the GTA for three days of collaboration.
The conference held "Immersion Experiences" on 11 different clusters, including one on Food, which was hosted by Michael Wolfson, Food and Beverage Sector Specialist with the City of Toronto, and Janet Horner, Executive Director of the Golden Horseshoe Food and Farming Alliance.

Earlier this month, the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) announced the winners of their Proud to Farm Photo Contest.
The contest received more than 450 entries from OFA members across the province!
Congratulations to all the winners, including the Grand Prize Winner of the Farmers' Choice Award, Morgan Murphy (image above).
"There are endless challenges and pressures in agriculture today, and our Proud to Farm photo contest was a way to encourage Ontario farmers to pause for a few moments to look around and capture some of the incredible beauty and pride in our industry," shares Keith Currie, OFA President. "And we had a tremendous response with entries coming from all across the province, and we thank all Ontario farmers who took part."

Two prizes of at least $100,000 CAD each will be awarded.
The first award recognizes a researcher, or group of researchers, who has advanced understanding of food production, processing, distribution, consumption, safety and/or human nutrition, with a significant positive impact on society.
The second award recognizes an individual, or group of individuals, who has contributed to improved nutritional health and/or food security, with a focus on strengthening disadvantaged communities.
