The Wilmot Union High School Board of Education approved the 2020-2021 School Calendar at their November 13, 2019, Regular Board of Education Meeting. The new calendar has various changes from previous school years.

The most significant changes include:

•BLOCK DAYS: Block days will now have a 2:45 pm dismissal. All school days, whether running on a block schedule or regular 8-period schedule, will dismiss at 2:45 pm. Block days appear in blue on the school calendar.

•EXAM SCHEDULE: Exams will now be taken over two days, rather than three days. Exams for the 2020-2021 School Year will be held on January 18-19, 2021, and June 7-8, 2021. A 2020-2021 exam schedule is pictured below. **PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT THE EXAM SCHEDULE FOR THIS SCHOOL YEAR**

•PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Teachers will now take part in professional development from 7:20 am - 9:20 am on Late Start Days. This will allow teachers to help students after school Monday - Friday.

Parents/Guardians of Seniors:
A Wilmot tradition is a send-off of your senior with a baby picture and a note of congratulations in the yearbook. This is an optional purchase and is different from your student's senior picture. The cost is $45. The process to complete the ad is completely online and the deadline is January 31, 2020.
If you have a baby photo and require scanning, you can send it to Mrs. Unger and she will scan it and email it back to you so that you can create your ad.

For this month, we would like to focus on the importance of class work. One of CPM’s student tips include making sure that your team is working efficiently to get through the class problems each day during class. Being aware of which problems are the main ideas can help you focus your time and energy. Make sure that at the end of every lesson you can share what you learned for that day. Results from our Algebra I, geometry and Algebra II survey given this past fall indicate that 94% of the 447 students who participated in the survey believe that talking about math problems helps them to understand the mathematics. We encourage you to talk with your student about how they are interacting with their daily math problems. Are they beginning problems promptly? Are they able to explain to their teammates what they learned from the lesson?
On Monday, December 30, 2019, Wilmot Union High School will be hosting motivational speaker, Jack Bennett.  Bennett's Hall of Fame coaching career in basketball includes multiple conference championships and 2 National Championship titles at UW-Stevens Point. Coach Bennett compiled a 200-56 (.781) record while at Stevens Point and is the school's all-time winningest coach.

This event will take place at 11:30 am in the Haas Auditorium and is free to all. Topics of his speech will include handling adversity and success, faith, and staying true to who you are.

Mrs. Parochelli's, Ms. Barranco's and Mr. Then's Senior Literature classes participated in a Breakout EDU activity. Breakout EDU is a physical game kit and platform where students work together to solve various puzzles to open a locked box, similar to an escape room. Students needed to use their knowledge of the play Macbeth to use clues and crack codes to open different locks and eventually lead to their "escape!"
