Administrative Update

Happy Holidays and greetings from the  White Pine Charter School staff.

Each day we have the great opportunity to interact with the greatest minds in Idaho, your children.  We are so thrilled to extend this interaction through the addition of the White Pine STEM Academy. We are excited to continue the outstanding education of our students through high school. We have so many great plans in store and are committed to continue to offer the best programs in the area.

During this season of giving, I would encourage everyone to give someone the gift of a favorite book. Write your own introduction to the book to include with the gift. Read with your children. You will find that this will be one of the most rewarding times of your day. It will also be a treasured time for your children.

Once again, have a safe and happy holiday season.

Parent Connection

The WPCS Lost and Found website has been updated. Look for any items with this link.

We also wanted to give a friendly reminder that Heelys and light up shoes are not permitted at school. We apologize for any inconvenience.

With the change in weather, please make sure your student comes to school with the appropriate attire.

Message from our PFA

The November volunteer of the month was Clark Jones.

Thank you to everyone that supported the school at Pizza Pie Cafe Night this month.

On December 7th, we will be holding a Child Care Night from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to do Christmas shopping. Please return the flyer so we can get a count on how many children will be attending. Volunteers are also needed, so sign up to build towards your twenty hours of service time of

December 7th is also Spirit/Popcorn Friday. Popcorn is 50 cents and available for purchase at lunch.

Counseling Corner

This past month we have seen a successful Red Ribbon Week. The theme was life is your journey, travel drug free. The students enjoyed dressing up each day of the week, and many of the classes incorporated red ribbon activities into the classroom.  It was a fun and informational week!

We have also completed the turkey boxes.  I have been overwhelmed by the generosity I have seen from the families at White Pine. With your help, we were able to provide 13 families a Thanksgiving dinner. The families that I have the privilege of interacting with on projects like this are one of the many reasons I love working at White Pine.

The Giving Tree is in progress.  My office is getting full of gifts for families in our school and I love it! There are still some present requests on the tree if you would like to participate in the Giving Tree. In addition, we have the opportunity to help out the Ammon Mayor's Youth Advisory Council by collecting canned food. We will be collecting canned food until December 10th and the K-2 class, 3-5 class, and Middle School advisory class with the most donations will earn doughnuts. Again, thank you for all your help and support this month!

Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions

This is an example of the letters flooding the superhero mailbox. Our awesome team is working hard to respond to these questions in many different forums. Some of the concerns will be brought up during school-wide assemblies.

This question was given to Positive Princess and the Significant Surfer. We would like to share their responses.

Positive Princess - "I would politely ask them to stop talking and be a good example of what a learner looks like."

Significant Surfer - "It might be best to ignore your friend and talk to them at recess. Be sure to let them know it is distracting."

We hope to share more of these questions and responses in the future. This has been such a positive way to help students with issues they are having at school.
