Worshipping with St. Martin's is a good way to start your week with God and one another, and you can do it from ANYWHERE!
Sunday School
Get-togethers

It is Kick-off Sunday at St. Martin's for all of our Sunday Schoolers and Youth Groups. Obviously, we can't meet in the church, and we've been on Zoom all week for school, so we're going to meet at Rita's on Prince Rodgers Road at 1 p.m. on Sunday, September 13th. There's plenty of room for social distancing. So bring your family, buy a tasty treat, and see your fellow St. Martin's parishioners in the flesh! Everyone's invited!
How can we put this delicately and positively?

The people of St. Martin's are generous with their time, their finances, and offering the volunteer services they do. We have so much for which to be grateful. We are so committed to the ministry we share. We love this church. So please keep up your financial support, because frankly, it is needed!
Outreach in September

Our next collection will be on Sunday, September 13, from 12 to 2 pm in the church parking lot. I will then stop by Rita’s on Prince Rogers Road to collect any items the Sunday school children & their families may have.

We will be collecting items for Operation Yellow Ribbon. This organization supports all military personnel serving in the Middle East, including Iraq and Afghanistan, and personnel supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Inherit Resources. Items requested include Rice Krispy treats, trail mix, dried fruit, tissues, dry roasted peanuts/mixed nuts, Slim Jims, tooth paste, toothbrushes, floss, chapstick, gum, life savers, hand sanitizer, skittles, breakfast bars, deodorant, pens, shampoo, bar soap, emery boards, body wash, female hygiene products, and playing cards. These items will be placed in stockings and delivered to the troops prior to the holidays.

In addition, we will be collecting children’s sneakers, underwear, and socks for FISH.

Thank you,
Marlene
Keeper of the Light

There is a light at St. Martin's that never goes out. We call it the "Sanctuary Light" because it hangs in the sanctuary of the chancel (front of the church) lighting the Reserved Sacrament. It reminds us of the presence of Christ who is with us always. During this time when we are not able to be in our building, members of the parish have been taking turns caring for the light in their own home and then passing it on to another member for the next week, until we can all be together again in the church building. If you would like to be the "Keeper of the Light" for a week, email Philip with the subject "Candle" at philip.muniz@gmail.com.
Book's I've Read during the Pandemic

"About Your Father" by Peggy Rowe

I don't know about you, but I need a break from 2020. I'm a follower of Mike Rowe on Facebook, of Dirty Job's fame, and had read some really great reviews of his mother's book in the NY Times. Not only is this book a light in the midst of the darkness, but at some point I think my neighbor's thought I was going crazy. There I was, alone and outside on my patio, reading this book and laughing hysterically. As a matter of fact, I read some parts of it out loud to Randy, and we both were hunched over cry-laughing it was so funny. So if your in for a light, funny escape that will only take you a short time to read, this is it!. Alison Jandak
