A Note from the  CAS C Staff: 
Happy World Day of Social Justice, CASC'ers!

We hope that you will join us today at our 3rd annual CASC OUT event, which will be celebrated in conjunction with the United Nations initiative, World Day of Social Justice! Students can share their stories of how, why, and where they CASC on campus. Prospective students can also learn more about the minor and the type of work they will do as part of the program.

Join us at the Haven/Mason Hall Posting wall from 11AM-3PM to build community and connect with students who share your values. You never know, you may learn something new or make a friend!

Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, disability justice advocate, will be here at U-M for 

LGBTQ Health and Wellness Week! 

Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha (she/they) is a queer disabled nonbinary femme writer and cultural worker of Burger/Tamil Sri Lankan and Irish/Roma ascen t.  In 2010, she was named one of the Feminist Press' 40 Feminists Under 40 Shaping the Future, and she is a 2013 Autostraddle Hot 105 member.

Interested in learning more about the Community Action and Social Change minor? Join an info session to learn more about the CASC community, requirements for the minor, course offerings, the msw preferred admissions program, and other opportunities to get involved in programs and events. Each session is held in the School of Social Work Building, Room 3661 (on the third floor).

Senior Audit
Please fill out your senior audit as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please schedule an appointment or visit drop-in to speak with CASC Academic Advisor Joe Galura.

Course Enrollment Petitions:  Students must submit a petition found on the CASC website to enroll in SW 300, 305 (section 1 & 2), and SW 401. If there are any questions or concerns, please email   cascminor@umich.edu .

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services (OSS)  in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW) as early as their junior year.  For admissions criteria and additional information, visit the preferred admissions  website.

The Ella Sharp Museum / Cell Block 7 in Jackson, Michigan seeks a graduate student or advanced undergraduate student in History, Information Science / Archives, or Museum Studies to fill a key role in a project titled "Uncovering Jackson's Prison History." This project will identify, collect, and analyze oral and written evidence of Jackson's prison history.

Mentality Magazine 
is the first student-run publication educating the community about mental health on the University of Michigan campus. It openly discusses and prioritizes mental health through writing. Interested in submitting content, learn more and reach out here!

Interested in Volunteering with Children?
MSPAN is currently looking for volunteers to help assist with HomeFront Strong's Children's Program. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work one-on-one and in small groups with children from military families. The groups help children build resiliency through developmentally appropriate activities that are fun and engaging. This is a great opportunity to gain experience working with children in a group format, military families, and the principles to foster resilience. 

Time Commitment Requested: 4-8 hours per week. Evening work is required.  Transportation and meal is provided for all volunteers
Qualifications of Student:  Volunteers must be reliable, organized, and have an interest in working with children.  Prior experience working with children is strongly preferred. Individual interviews with Child Team Coordinator and in-person training will be required.
