This Week at BJBE
November 26,  2018
Due to the snow storm, BJBE is open today only from 10am to 5pm. All evening activities at the building are canceled, except for tutoring sessions already arranged with our clergy.

Stay safe and warm!
A Note from Sally Sachar, Executive Director

Dear Congregants,

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, whether spent with family, friends, or by yourself as a time to recharge and reflect.

We are in our final countdown to Giving Tuesday, and we hope that as you think about where and how you will give back that you will consider making a small gift to BJBE, where every gift will be matched dollar for dollar.  Our special matching campaign ends at midnight tomorrow, Tuesday, November 27. You are already so generous to BJBE, and too, we count on additional donations such as Giving Tuesday to help provide essential augments to our operating monies, since membership contributions do not cover all of our expenses.  Your dollars go to support very important initiatives, such as all of our social action programs - so, for example, your dollars give twice - to BJBE and to our social action initiatives that support individuals and communities in need. Think of it as the BJBE Ripple!  To donate to Giving Tuesday, click here.

Chanukah is just around the corner, with the first night on Sunday, December 2.  We very much hope you will join us next Friday, December 7 for a special Chanukah celebration that will also feature our Artist in Residence, Elana Arian, who will be joining us for several wonderful programs and services.  The festivities begin Friday evening, when we will have a latke pre-Oneg and community candle lighting. Bring in your own menorah/candles and participate in beautiful candle lighting in our Village Center. After the Shabbat service with Elana Arian (which begins at 7:30pm), we'll have a festive oneg, featuring sufganiyot (jelly donuts). Shabbat morning, Elana Arian will join us at Kol Shabbat, and then lead Torah Study along with Cantor Frost. The festivities will conclude with a Rabbi's Table lunch (RSVP required). See the full schedule and Elana Arian's bio here.

Very important announcement regarding Mid-Month: We are goin g GREEN, and that means that if  you want to receive the Mid-Month in hard copy in your USPS mail box, and not just digitally, you must OPT IN, by notifying Caryn by December 31, 2018.  Digital distribution is not only green, but also economical and will save BJBE dollars!

Have a wonderful week, and stay safe  especially now that the wintry weather is fully upon us.

All my best,
Sally Sachar
Executive Director
