A Message from our Parish Pastor, Father Phil
|
|
Dear Parishioners:
As we move deeper into the Summer months, we know that July runs into August, and August runs into the School Year. Just as the final quarter of the last School Year presented many challenges to our schools, faculty, students and parents, so will attempts to re-boot our educational activities in September.

A Message fro
m United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)
|
|
Catholic schools need your help to circulate the link below as widely as possible this week.
We are up to 130 schools that have announced permanent closure this year and an internal survey tells us 10% of Catholic schools are uncertain of their future due to COVID. Please use the link below to push this USCCB Action Alert that highlights our request that Congress set aside 10% of any funds for K-12 education to go to scholarships for families that attend private schools.
Please keep our schools and our legislators in your prayers and also do everything you can to make sure our Catholic family raises this urgent issue with their representatives in Washington, DC this week!

PLEASE REGISTER FOR MASS - Parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee are currently in phase one of the Catholic Comeback, which means seating at weekend Mass continues to be limited. Our primary focus during this pandemic is protecting your health and safety. Registration for Mass helps us ensure a safe number of individuals in the church proper to allow enough space for physical distancing of six feet.
Those who have a fever or are experiencing flu-like symptoms should not come to Mass. Moreover, people over the age of 65 and those with compromised auto-immune systems and/or pre-existing health issues that render them more susceptible to infections or respiratory difficulties should consider staying away, as well.
The Archbishop has extended his dispensation to all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, no matter their age, from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass through Sunday, August 2nd.

Thank you to all who helped make the novena to overcome racism possible, from those who made music and recorded to Fr Phil and the Stewardship Committee. And a special thanks to
all
who participated in some way.

In addition to the core subject areas and to develop the whole child, St. John the Baptist School provides opportunities in other areas. We are blessed to be able to offer other areas where our students can excel and share their God-given gifts and talents. Over the next two weeks, I am pleased to share the special areas that we offer.

Faith Albert
Art Teacher
"In the art classes we try to expose the children to multiple mediums and techniques and also art in religion, culture and history. We also emphasize and encourage instilling basic art skills, creativity, problem solving and craftsmanship. These are skills that will serve them well in many areas of their lives for years to come."
|
|
Laurie Hylen
Physical Education Teacher
"My goal is to instill in students the importance of having an active, healthy lifestyle. I want them to find ways to be active throughout their lives by teaching them activities where they can succeed, while having fun. I want to help them find motivation to maintain a healthy lifestyle."

Mary Calkins
Guidance Counselor
"
All children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my responsibility to help create this type of environment so that students can reach their full potential. In addition, I will help to provide a safe learning environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
