Transportation and Commuter Solutions for the North Shore
Proposed bus changes to affect many North Shore commutes-provide your input!
In an effort to improve bus reliability and frequency, (which many commuters have expressed as their biggest frustration with bus travel), the MBTA has undertaken the Better Bus Project . There are 47 proposed no-cost solutions that tweak bus schedules and routes in order to modernize 63 bus routes, many of which service the North Shore. See a summary of some of the changes here . A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 6 th at 6pm at the North Shore community center campus in Lynn. Commuters can also give their feedback on these proposed changes directly to the MBTA by taking this survey .

North Shore TMA's Shuttle Update
The North Shore TMA is pleased to announce a shuttle bus provider has been chosen and last mile shuttle service will begin in early April. The shuttle bus seats 24 people and 2 wheelchairs or 30 people without wheelchairs.

The current plan is for the shuttle to run 4 times during the peak morning and evening commutes picking up and dropping off passengers from the Beverly Depot train station and making stops to: Cummings Center, Cherry Hill, and Trask Lane (Cell Signaling) and then repeating in reverse for the evening commute. A kick-off meeting with shuttle partners will be scheduled for late February/early March to continue to finalize service details.

The schedule will continue to be tweaked to ensure that we are maximizing service for patrons.
City of Beverly Receives Grant to Redesign Beverly Depot Station

The City of Beverly received a Housing Choice Community grant award of $150K to redesign the Beverly Depot Commuter Rail station to make all modes of transit more readily accessible from this location. Imagine a place where you can pick up a bike, scooter, Zipcar, UBER/LYFT, the Beverly shuttle as well as the train all in one spot. There will be signage directing you to various points of interest around town along with travel time and mileage on how to get there. More info coming soon!

Lynn Walking and Bicycling Network Plan Plan nearing completion
The City of Lynn with the help of consultants-Kittelson and Associates, are creating a walking and bicycling network for Lynn, connecting walkers and bikers from the Northern Strand community path at Western Ave to Lynn Shore and Nahant Beach. They mapped out 3 different route scenarios and after a series of public meetings, decided on the final route which you can see here. Stay tuned for a final report detailing all the improvements, you can still provide your feedback here.  This changes will vastly improve the entire streetscape getting to and around Lynn and will serve as a model for connectivity for other North Shore towns!
