MPACT Mentor Program
MPACT helps thousands of families in Missouri per year. We do this by helping families understand their educational rights; training families and professionals about special education, communication, and advocacy; and by attending meetings to support families. We are able to do this because we have a dedicated staff and a small army of volunteers, known as mentors, who give their time and expertise to MPACT.
If you have ever considered "giving back," maybe being a mentor for MPACT would be the right fit for you. In order to be an MPACT mentor, we ask that you complete an application, consent to a background check, and attend four of our core trainings. Most importantly, we ask that you be passionate about helping families in Missouri! Contact our Mentor Coordinator, Cheryl Thompson, at [email protected] to learn more!
Giving Tuesday
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving, which is this Tuesday, is known as Giving Tuesday. All of MPACT's services are free, in part to grant funding, but also through generous donations from individuals like you! Please consider giving back to MPACT on November 27 here: Give back to MPACT
MPACT is a National Parent Center and 501(c)(3) nonprofit that relies on a variety of sources of funding, including donations.

Partners in Policymaking
- Are you a parent of a child with a disability or a person with a disability?
- Would you like to see a barrier-free society where everyone is a valued member of their community?
- Are you interested in promoting change within your community? Within the state?
If you answered yes to these questions, you might be interested in becoming one of a growing number of Missouri's Partners in Policymaking Graduates, which is a program of the
Missouri Developmental Disabilities Council.
Partners in Policymaking is a leadership training program for adults with disabilities and parents of children with developmental disabilities. The program teaches leadership skills and techniques to develop positive partnerships with elected officials, school personnel and other individuals who make policy decisions about services that you and/or your family use. You can learn more about the Partners program, including dates of the sessions and the application, here:
