What will this cost me?
It does not cost you to be an elected volunteer. You are reimbursed for expenses you need to do your job including travel expenses.
Who can run for an elected position?
A professional member, in good standing, that has been a member for at least 1 yr.

GR UPDATE:

The Indiana State Board was able to read through the rules at the January 16 meeting. Corrections are being made on the original draft that was forwarded to them from the subcommittee. When the board meets again on March 5 (room W064 of the Government Center South Building), they plan to approve them for the next step. To the right you see a chart of the rules process. You will note that once it is approved by the board it can still take many months until the rules are approved by Governor Holcomb.
Also occurring at the state level is a new bill that would deregulate our profession in Indiana. You can read more here : http://iga.in.gov/documents/cf07a3f4
The bill has been assigned to the Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee, which is the same committee that heard and approved our licensing bill. Also, this bill will have a financial impact for Indiana and our representatives do not like to see that happen. It will put the burden on the local cities and counties to license our profession. It require a therapist and client to sign a disclosure and contract.. There is no better time to be an amta member than it is today. Our lobbyist has asked the ELP Committee to not hear this bill and will keep us apprised to any updates on the bill.

GR HINT THIS MONTH: Document Document Document! If you are ever called before the PLA board make sure you have good SOAP notes!
