Keeping it Local

O ur business is much more than just selling insurance, it is a way of life; which means long-term personal relationships being built with members of our community; it means supporting local businesses, events and sports teams; and it means making a difference in the lives of others.

"The PVI Pledge"

Pauma/Valley Insurance pledges to do everything we can to make your lives Safer, Simpler & more Secure.

DID YOU KNOW...

That the federal solar tax credit, also known as the investment tax credit (ITC), allows you to deduct 30 percent of the cost of installing a solar energy system from your federal taxes? The ITC applies to both residential and commercial systems, and there is no cap on its value.

Just click on Pey Shadzi's photo below to hear a brief video on the ITC.

Also, please note the following from PVI's Brandon Strausbaugh:

"Solar panels are covered by most homeowners insurance policies, but be sure and inform your insurance agent/company after installation to ensure you have adequate coverage."

MEDICARE - HOW TO BE A PARTY TO IT?
ATTEND THE MEDICARE PRESENTATION - 11/15 @ 9:30 AM! (IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING CAN MEETING)
Bill Heublein, PVI's Medicare and Benefits Specialist

If you're like most people, insurance is not one of your favorite subjects. In fact, many of us probably would describe it as boring. I mean, how many of us walk into a party and say, "Hey! Who wants to talk about insurance?!"

I think the reason for our attitude is not that insurance really is boring, per se, but that - for most of us - we just don't understand the finer points and that can make the details seem overwhelming, which translates to, you guessed it, boring.

And if that's how we feel about  regular insurance, don't even get us started on  Medicare, right?

But if you are in (or fast approaching) the large demographic in Valley Center that is 65 or older, then you know that Medicare is an important part of your healthcare. And, speaking of care, wouldn't it be great to have someone on your side who not only  does  understand the finer points of Medicare, but also  cares  about helping you along the way?  READ MORE

CUSTOMER CORNER - COSMIC SOLAR
THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD
Cosmic Solar is a "star" in the solar field! Their mission has always been to provide their customers with state-of-the-art solar technology, the best value for their investment, the best products and services, and their unconditional guarantee for complete customer satisfaction, ranking them No. 1 in Customer Service.

Bahram and Judith Shadzi, owners of Cosmic Solar, are residents of Valley Center, where they donate their time and resources in support of our community. Judith also serves as an Ambassador for the Valley Center Chamber of Commerce.

During the past several years, Bahram has been designing and installing photovoltaic (PV) solar systems and enjoying every minute of it. "I am truly satisfied," he noted, "creating sustainable and renewable energy solutions that meet the expressed needs of our Cosmic Solar customers. This is the first time in my long career that I feel I have true job satisfaction!"

Judith's favorite aspect of being part of the team is getting to know all the Cosmic Solar families. "At Cosmic Solar, first and foremost, my job is to keep our communication lines open with our prospective clients and solar alumni," she says. "We won't rest until all the meters are spinning backwards and we see a smile on every client's face."

Bahram and Judith are very proud of their whole team, including their son, Pey, who is the Operations Manager. Pey is dedicated to clean, solar energy while zeroing out their customers' energy bills. As he says, "Watching our customers' eyes light up when they first see their meter spin backwards is a beautiful thing!"

If you're in the market for solar, contact Cosmic Solar for a free estimate. You'll be "thankful" you did!

"I'M THANKFUL"
VCCAG Officers Suzie Durant, Larry McKenzie, Diane Conaway & John Yeager, with PVI's Phyllis Knight kicking off the "I'm Thankful" campaign.
For those of us who live in the Valley Center area, we know that we are fortunate to be able to call this community home. Not just because of the beautiful location and not just because of the great weather, but - most importantly - because of the people who live here. And, yes, it's true that most of us have so much for which to be thankful.

But, as many of you know, we have friends and neighbors who may not be as fortunate as we are. Sadly, there are those in our community who are struggling with their circumstances. Sometimes it's the loss of a loved one, or maybe it's health issues, a bad accident, or perhaps the loss of a job, or other financial means have disappeared. The bottom line is they are going through a tough time and need a little help. Unfortunately, those situations can be exacerbated by the coming winter months and the holidays.

We know that you - like those of us at PVI - love to help and support our community, but sometimes we just don't know where the needs are, how to go about it, or if it's a charity we can trust. That's where the Valley Center Community Aid Group (VCCAG) comes in.  READ MORE
COMMUNITY RESPONDS TO
"I'M THANKFUL" CAMPAIGN
John Stacey And Serby Zivku, with John's Tire Pros, showing the finishing touches being put on a donated car to PVI's Phyllis Knight.

What a great way to start the "I'm Thankful" campaign! Thanks to Serby Zivku and John Stacey, with John's Tire Pros, a resident of Valley Center will now be the proud new owner of a much-needed car!

Though located in Escondido (1795 E. Valley Parkway), Serby said they have a lot of Valley Center customers and they wanted to show their appreciation by donating the car, which also received a new transmission from John's and a new set of tires (courtesy of Hercules Tires).

Brandon Strausbaugh, PVI, and Larry McKenzie, President of VCCAG, show another great way the community can participate in the campaign - by donating gift cards! The VCCAG often distributes gift cards, in particular for grocery stores, but any and all are welcome! So the next time you are out shopping, please consider buying an extra one (or two) to donate!

Also, if you have received gift cards that you can't or won't use, please consider donating those as well!

You can simply drop off your gift cards (also cash & checks) at the PVI office where a donation basket is on display. Marisela Enriquez (right) would love to assist you!

Donations also can be made on the VCCAG website

Thanks to all for your support!
KRUEGER (G)HOSTS SUNDOWNER

WHAT'S THE "BUZZ" WITH PVI & SPINS?

As we all know, no one  spins coffee like Ted Hackleman, so PVI is excited to announce our newest partnership with Spins Coffee Truck! Beginning this month, PVI will feature a signature drink each month with a special promotion for you to enjoy!

What's the "buzz" behind this fun, new venture? Brandon Strausbaugh, PVI's General Manager, (who is a regular feature at Spins himself) was feeling a little  fallish and suggested a new flavor combination he wanted Ted to try. They both loved the result and thought it would be great to share with other customers. So after discussion, the decision was made not only to share the flavor, but PVI decided to treat our friends and neighbors as well! Thus, our newest community connection was born.
"A DANDY CELEBRATION!"
The Dandy Family at their One-Year Anniversary Celebration on November 10th: (l-r) Alex, Elizabeth, Tom and Colin.

Working or playing, it's always "A Family Affair" with the Dandys, who own Dandy Land Yogurt. Of course, yogurt (with numerous toppings!), is what they're known for, but it's certainly not all they do! In fact, since taking over the yogurt shop a year ago, they have added over 35 items to their menu, specializing in tortas. On weekends they offer fresh-made churros and funnel cakes to the mix.

So it was no surprise that there was a great turnout at their One-Year Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, November 10th. Of course, the free food and big obstacle jumpy for the kids might have had something to do with it, too!

Stopping by to check it out was PVI's Brooke Dunn, shown below with owner, Tom Dandy.

                                  Partaking...
(which is a lot more fun!)

From the smile on Brooke's face, I think it's a given that the yogurt combination was a hit. But be sure and come by and check it out for yourself! They're located at 28952 Lilac Rd (by Lilac Foods) and they're open Sunday -Thursday 11 am - 7pm; Friday and Saturday 11am - 8 pm.

PVI SPONSORS "WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA"
Brandon Strausbaugh presenting PVI's donation to
Sharon Healey Bartholomew (Center of the Valley Chapter DAR)

Center of the Valley DAR was seeking wreath sponsors for their second annual "Wreaths Across America" ceremony, scheduled for December 15th at Valley Center Cemetery, and PVI was pleased to be able to support this special event.

Brandon Strausbaugh is thankful to be able to honor his grandfather, Van Quackenbush, a WWII veteran, by sponsoring a wreath to grace his grave at the cemetery, as well as additional wreaths for those who may not have local family to  honor them.

For more information on the Wreaths Across America ceremony, please see the DAR Facebook page.

SOLAR AND THE "GREEN" HOUSE EFFECT
By Brandon Strausbaugh,CIC, CPCU

When adding a solar system to your home or business, you should always discuss insurance coverage with your agent, because not all policies are the same and coverage varies between carriers.

Most standard homeowners insurance policies will provide coverage for the typical damage that occurs to home solar systems (subject to the policy deductible) caused by fire, lightening, wind, hail/snow, falling objects, vandalism and theft. ( Homeowners insurance policies do not provide coverage for earthquake, flood, maintenance, wear & tear, deterioration, rust, corrosion, hidden decay, tree roots or insect/animal type damages to the home and/or solar system)

Because solar systems add value to your home, you should consider increasing the Dwelling Limit of your homeowners insurance policy to ensure that the home is adequately insured for its replacement value including the solar system. For solar systems that are not attached to the home, you will want to consider increasing section B (other structures) of your home insurance policy to ensure that you have adequate coverage.

Also, some insurance carriers offer a "Green Home" upgrade endorsement to better protect energy efficient homes. If you're interested in hearing more, I would be happy to discuss this added benefit with you. Just email me or give me a call (760-749-2383) and see how we can help you keep a little more "green" in your pocket as well!

WE WOULD BE VERY THANKFUL  IF YOU WOULD SHARE YOUR REFERRALS & TESTIMONIALS WITH US!
"Thanks so much for working with me!!! It was a true honor to be in your office for part of the day, getting to watch you all together and seeing you in action. It gives me so much confidence to refer you, now that I've seen behind the scenes and I know emphatically that you are all lovely wonderful people who have built a solid and strong business. Cheers to ALL of you!!!"
