Helen Phillips, author of the critically acclaimed novel The Beautiful Bureaucrat is back! This time she lends her quirky charm to a new collection of short stories, Some Possible Solutions. In this collection, Phillips asked a series of "what ifs": What if you knew the exact date of your death? What if your city was filled with doppelgängers of you? Into these scenarios, she throws characters searching for intimacy and struggling to resolve their relationships with each other.

A finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for her book The Snow Child , Eowyn Ivey returns with a stunning second novel To the Bright Edge of the World. In the winter of 1885, decorated war colonel Allen Forrester leads a small band of men on an expedition up the Wolverine River and into the Alaskan Territory. She Writes Press is dedicated to promoting the voices of women and providing an online community of support for women writers. Six She Writes Press authors will discuss their noels and their methods of writing. Jennifer Dwight will present  The Tolling of Mercedes Bell, Melissa Rea will present  Conjuring Casanova, Carrie Highly will present  Blue Apple Switchback, Katrina Willis will present  Parting Gifts, Michelle Meyers will present  Glass Shatters, and Linda Kass will present  Tasa's Song.
Tuesday, August 23, 7:00PM, Historic LoDo
A rich imagining of the story behind one of the greatest American novels,  The Whale: A Love Story  pictures Herman Melville in the summer of 1850. His career might be coming to an end and creditors are knocking at his door. When he meets Nathaniel Hawthorne at a picnic his life turns upside down. The Whale is a novel that chronicles the imagined love affair that grows out of the serendipitous meeting, with Mark Beauregard filling in the story behind  Moby Dick's famous dedication.
