February Adoption Promotion
|
Give yourself and your family a gift of love by adopting a cat this month. We've had 32 adoptions so far in February, and 5 of them were on Valentine's Day! Felines have so much love to give to their humans, and in turn need affection and attention. We have many cats of all ages and personalities, and they all want a loving home. Please come and visit soon!
Please visit our Facebook page for more information about our programs and events.
Visit our website to view all our cats available for adoption.
Note: our standard adoption screening process applies to this promotion. Further, for cats age ten and older and cats with chronic medical problems we offer our Perpet-U-Care Program which provides
$250 of veterinary care services at the CCS Cat Clinic annually.

One of our long term residents, Emma, who is also FIV positive, was adopted on Valentine's day! Emma had been with us since February of 2017, so she was just 8 days shy of her two year anniversary with CCS. Emma has waited patiently to find her forever home.
She found her perfect family with a retired senior who will be able to spend all day, every day with her.
We took in several young cats recently, ranging from 6 months to 3 years. One of those was a young lady named Cinnamon, a beautiful 7 month old brown tabby who turned out to have a heart murmur. She was on medical hold while we had her heart checked out, but had multiple applications from people who wanted to adopt her. She went to a cardiologist last week, who said that her prognosis is good and no treatment was needed in spite of the congenital heart condition. She will need annual rechecks with the cardiologist to make sure there aren't changes. Lucky Cinnamon went to her forever home last weekend...another wonderful story.

Valentine Card Donation Drive and
Valentine Goody Bags
|
We are celebrating Valentine's Day all month long in February. Even though that special day has come and gone, a number of our cat valentines have not yet been sponsored for our drive. We don't want any of our cats left out, so please support CCS and sponsor a handcrafted picture valentine for $25. These donations help us care for all the homeless, neglected, and abused cats in our care. Help us meet our goal.....have every cat represented! The valentines will then belong to you after the drive.
You can donate for the cat valentines at the shelter,
Click here to view all the valentines on our Facebook page.
Be sure to get your furry valentine friend one of these Valentine Goody bags. These are available for sale in the shelter. Each bag has a collar, a tag, 2 catnip toys, 2 kitty flicks, 2 sparkle balls, and a grumpy cat valentine card.

King is a very sweet boy. He is shy in the shelter when there is lots of commotion, but is very playful and active once we are closed and it is quiet. He would do well in a household with a small family or a single person. When he gets to know you, he is a devoted lap cat and very affectionate. He has no medical needs and is very healthy. King would be much happier in a home where he is the only cat so he can get lots of attention and socialization. He is 4 years and 10 months old. Please come meet King!

People tend to associate foster care with kittens, and kitten season is definitely coming soon! However, we need foster care volunteers for adult cats all year long. These are special needs kitties, or those who might need more socialization or hospice care. Click here for more information about fostering.

The righting reflex, an orientation ability that helps cats land on their feet, has enabled cats to survive a fall of 32 stories.
Cats cannot taste sweets because their taste buds lack sugar detectors due to a genetic deficiency.
Cats can taste water, however, and many find it tasty. Felines can even drink seawater as their kidneys can filter out the salt and use the desalinated water for hydration.
