Awards and Achievements
Peninsula Health Care District Celebrates 2019 Grant Recipients

Adult School Director Tim Doyle (second from left) with PHCD board members.
SMUHSD's Health and Wellness Program and the San Mateo Adult School were both recognized as 2019 grant recipients at the Peninsula Health Care District's Eleventh Annual Awards Ceremony and Reception on February 4.

Every year, the PHCD awards grants to local organizations that address local health priorities.

The PHCD grant received by San Mateo Adult School supports the implementation of health education program including nutrition, physical activity, and healthy literacy to effect the school's mission of being a catalyst for student intellectual growth, creativity, and sustained health.

Additionally, PHCD funded year two of the Stanford Teen Mobile Heath Van.   The Health Van program focuses on students in our District who have limited or no healthcare. When a student can't access basic healthcare, it affects all areas of their lives including involvement in school and activities. The van also gives students quick and confidential access to sensitive healthcare needs meaning they no longer need to miss an entire day of school to address these issues. All services and medications are provided at no charge to the students.
